I think the "correct" thing to do is have two images, one for each side. They are basically two cards. Each side has its own gatherer entry, and own collectors number (even if it's only 123a and 123b).
I don't see any validity to smashing the two images together as one, no matter how you do it. For any sort of card database, I feel the same way. Treat each side like a separate card.
The Kamigawa flip cards are 1 card, not at all like the double-faced cards. One collectors number, one piece of art.

Only problem with separate entries is that it will give a false number of how many cards you actually own

I don't see that as a problem.
If I own 1 Reckless Waif card number 159a, then it just so happens, that card comes with a free copy of Merciless Predator card number 159b on the other side. It really is two cards on one piece of cardboard.

Yeah but its going to mess up the deck legality in MWS to have them separate. 60 cards in a deck with a 15 card sideboard. The only way to make MWS recognize the legality of the deck is to have both images on one card. I hate it but that's the way it is. I agree though that we should also have the separate images for the collection.

Use tokens for the 159b type cards, and put 159a in your deck. Think about more than just MWS too. They are treated as two cards on all official sources, so it only makes sense to do it that way.

Well, this is not correct: In a tournament when you register your deck, you only can register "the a-side" of each double-side cards, which is the only side with mana cost, and the only form that a double-side card can enter the battlefield... because the other side is not a card, is the result of the trasform ability.Ark wrote:Use tokens for the 159b type cards, and put 159a in your deck. So in terms of playing, only exist one card... and I think that only one card should be in the programs database.

Magic workstation has some kind of problem with a/b cards and cannot load them (like Brothers Yamazaki). This is, however manually fixable by removing the letters of collector number, so I think it's not the best option for workstation players.Ark wrote:Use tokens for the 159b type cards, and put 159a in your deck. I think this option is one of the better ones, because with little effort, you can create tokens that would represent the back side of the card (I'm talking about MWS) and you could always use the full scan images for them.SoldT wrote:Well, this is not correct: In a tournament when you register your deck, you only can register "the a-side" of each double-side cards, which is the only side with mana cost, and the only form that a double-side card can enter the battlefield... because the other side is not a card, is the result of the trasform ability.

Put the wanted card in a tokens folder (TK by default) and create a token card in MWS with the same name. You can even rename the card to make the name shorter if it's more comfortable to you. I think that's it.aleph wrote:How does one assign a card image to a token in MWS?

Wow that's awesome. I didn't know it would do that. Yeah In that case the back side cards should definitely be tokens. They should still be in the database though.PoVisko wrote:Put the wanted card in a tokens folder (TK by default) and create a token card in MWS with the same name.
