correct, but I save at jpeg quality 100% when cutting, which is much better than jpeg 10 quality. The problems I think will arise if there are supplementary lossy saves. Bordering can be very easily done by anyone. In fact, I think dusting could be the last thing to do - I do it like that, just before saving.
But in the end we're splitting hairs, aren't we ? :)
jpg2000 is awfully slow, tried it.

I should be able to find a few hours per month to contribute and would be happy to help keep the project going. :mrgreen: Count me in!

Most the time I use your guys images, but when I'm in need of an image before your set releases the steps I generally follow are as such:

1.) Slice
2.) Perspective
3.) Clone
-> Export as .TIFF (LZW)
4.) Image adjustments (such as blur, un-sharpen, color)
5.) Border / Resize / Export
-> Save as JPG

Extreme:
Any particular reason you perform your steps differently that I may be unfamiliar with since you have more experience?
I've found that after the perspective crop (many times after the clone step) saving that processed image and keeping it as more of a master allows me to go back and produce any type of final product the easiest. Wasn't sure if there is something you have figured out that I have not run into yet.

And I think I have asked in the past, do you keep any type of "master" type unprocessed images on older sets or are they destroyed once the final product is completed? I know Extreme mentioned something about keeping loss less images around would take lots of space up.

@moomark: thanks a bunch ! You're a photoshop expert, there's no doubt there.

@woogerboy: You can use any order, the only thing would be that I'd try geometric distortion after the color correction, I think there will be less color artifacts. I might be wrong.
We only keep the processed bordered 600 dpis, i.e. xlhqs size x2. It would be too much to keep anything else. Even so there are tens of gigs of stuff.

We're always interested in new and improved documentation. We'd love to have instructions for using GIMP, unless for some reason it can't do the job Photoshop.
Working with Extreme and doing the steps in GIMP it looks like either the filters or filter settings aren't the same and produces results that aren't as up to quality as Photoshop.

So far slicing, perspective cropping, image resizing, and canvas resizing all work fine. But applying any blur or unsharpen filter may be a problem. I'm planning to see if I can get the setting needed or better filters since you can download and install additional filters in GIMP.

Alright everybody, Good news! Tanthorjen is interested in processing all of the english scans with his business. So that leaves the rest of our processors to cover the foreign sets, which have been scanned at a much slower pace (and we have ~10 sets to be done currently).

great ! This doesn't include scanning, right ? I think it would be great to also find somebody who can scan well and has access to stuff quickly. Wooger has one hell of a scanner, anyway, almost no dust at all.

For anyone interested, my scanner is an Epson Perfection 4490 Photo. I think it cost me ~$150USD, I think (It's been a while since I purchased it).

If you guys still need help with processing, could you please send me a PM with the FTP details (or whatever details I need to help out). My free time tends to come in spurts, so I'll probably just start with helping on dust/scratch cleanup, but let me know where I can be most helpful.

Thanks! I'm not sure how the processing is being coordinated. Please send extreme a PM.

FYI, if there are any pending sets you would like me to process (other than M14 since I'm waiting on the cards for that set) message me and let me know. I'll be glad to help out.

There's at least one foreign language set if you're interested.

I really appreciate the work you guys do and I would like to help out. I'm not that experienced with stuff but I learn quickly. Do you need any extra help with photoshop processing?

Sure, PM woogerboy21 and skibulk to see what you can do.

I've updated my action set and the opening post. In skibulk.atn, Levels and color adjustments are now applied last, after cropping, dust, and scratch removal is completed. This is a safeguard in case incorrect levels or color adjustments are applied, the set won't have to be completely redone. This also has a side effect of improving the accuracy in cropping black-bordered cards, which was complicated when level adjustments decreased contrast between the card frame and border.

I've also added the clause about matching color to the physical cards.

EDIT

@tanthorjen & @chillpenguin PM'd you both

Alright guys, right now we've only got Woogerboy21 and Moomarc working on images, we need another one or two volunteers, for an average of 3 hours per month. I've loosened up the requirements to allow for people who would only be doing dust removal, even a caveman could do it :D
