differences between forge and dotp

First of all a big thank you to this wonderful community, I've been a sort of a lurker but this doesn't mean that I don't appreciate your efforts and passion. That's been said, I can't say that I am an expert, I've played dotp 2014 so far and I am curious about Forge. What's the main difference between the two?
