Axeing the Quick Reply Function
by Huggybaby » 01 Jul 2010, 08:12
Does anyone else hate the quick reply function as much as I do? I'm thinking about getting rid of it on all the forums.
(It's kind of new BTW, so I'd just be changing things back to the way they were.)

I'm not a fan of it, but that's only because I like previewing my posts.

I always use the quick reply function, because it's much faster. I think I didn't go to the full editor once since the new option is available...
Maybe it could be made optional on a user-by-user basis?

Do not understand your hate. Don't like it -> don't use it. Or you hate even the existence of this rather small button?
When you´re a goblin, you don´t have to step forward to be a hero -- everyone else just has to step back.

Wow, if you wouldn't say it, I wouldn't even realize that there actually is one!

Because I always use the full editor to add image tags, etc. And now to get to it I have to make two clicks, and yes the extra click is a PIA. On the other hand with full editor on by default, it's one click for me, and also one click for those who would otherwise use the quick editor. Quick editor people can ignore the formatting functions, there's no difference for them.Goblin Hero wrote:Do not understand your hate. Don't like it -> don't use it. So it seems to me that the quick editor is a useless gimmick with less functionality than the full editor.
The fact is I was messing around the other day in the Admin control panel and gave the quick editor to every forum, when no one was asking for it, and it was only already in just a couple of forums. I don't know if GH enabled those on purpose or whether I had previously without knowing what it was.
<edit> Aww shit, I just saw that the regular reply button is there, in addition to, not instead of, the quick reply. Now what GH said makes sense.
OK, forget I made this topic then.
