Does my T2 combo work?
by Skeleton Mage » 06 Dec 2010, 18:15
I've come up with an idea that seems to be legal in my mind, but others say no. Answer only if you're a fuck$%£ expert please.
Magosi, the Waterveil, Amulet of vigor and an Island. Does this not create unlimited turns?
If not, why not?

I guess you mean your combo to work like this:
Start:
Magosi, the Waterveil, Amulet of Vigor and an Island in play. magosi has an eon counter already
Process:
-Activate Magosi to get an extra turn
-Replay Magosi, untapping it
-Activate Magosi to put an eon counter on it
-Wait for your next turn to have it and your island untapped
-repeat
This works, except that you have skipped your extra turn in the process and gained nothing.
But,
If you had two Magosi's things look different. The trick is to skip your next turn before you take an extra turn:

- Code: Select all
Regular: You, Opp, You, Opp, You, Opp
Skip: You, Opp, Opp, You, Opp
Extra: You, YOU, Opp, Opp, You, Opp
- Code: Select all
Repeat: You, Opp, Opp, You, Opp
Skip: You, Opp, Opp, Opp
Extra: You, YOU, Opp, Opp, Opp

From the rulings posted on the Gatherer page for Magosi:
"10/1/2009: If you somehow activate Magosi's third and fourth abilities during the same turn, the effects will cancel each other out. The turn you skip is the next one you would take, which is the turn created by Magosi's fourth ability. It doesn't matter in which order the abilities resolved."
In other words, it won't work.
