EDH - my new favourited format
by 0rion79 » 25 Oct 2011, 10:26
Buddies, you know... for some time I've played only EDH decks with great fun (even if our game still misses a red & white general).
Now that I'm back to 1.5/extended, I'm realizing how the game sucks. Usually it is over in a bunch of rounds, I can't enjoy my deck because I win or loose in very few rounds. There is almost no time to develop combos.
I think that there are 2 main reasons: creatures are much faster and powerful than in the past and 20 life points are no longer enough to face the power of modern cards. What do you think about?

Check the New Limited thread, you'll find a nice surprise
And, by the way, I LOVE playing EDH (or Commander, if you like).

I love playing EDH,too. It was really fun to play in our tournaments,as you say having 40 life points makes games longer and you can develop more combos and I love the variety 100 unique cards give you.
The only disadvantage is that AI doesn't get the General rule of 21 life points by a General will make AI loose the game and doesn't block even though it can and trade a creature since AI "believes" it has 20 more lifepoints to spare so why loose a good creature. It would be great if we could fix this somehow.

I've recently downloaded some of the EDH decks available in some threads in here, but they do not show up on the available decks inside the game. they open fine in the deck editor. Anyone has any idea why?

Fire PDA away and check if something is wrong in the logs!

Manalink PlayDeck Analyzer, a nifty utility to convert deck from various sources to ML3 and come with many useful tools, it can also fix broken decks and check what is wrong with them.

Thanks. It runned, did his bit, but did not report any errors or did any changes to the EDH decks. They still do not work.
Seems a hopeless endeavour.

Zip them and attach the decks to have a look.

2 decks I checked were illegal(Arcanis and Blue thief) having wrong colours and blue thief not even 5 copies of a General.
Anyway I attach some EDH decks if you want to play with them and you don't have them.

Thanks! those work. Never occurred to me that the decks could simply be illegal and the engine did not show them for that reason.
