Manalink 2.0 forums are now Manalink 3.0

Postby stassy » 28 Jan 2012, 18:24

Well, I may be not the best representative user to announce this because I am just a user, bug hunter and Magic noob, but as a moderator I am proud to announce that we finally entered into the new era of Manalink 3.0, with no more cards limit for a while, new features and dedicated hardcore users that helped in the past and still help now in developing this so old game.

As a reward, our forum is now the Manalink 3.0 forums, thanks to the Administrator Huggybaby.

Feel free to add an history post again here as I am not the oldest member and didn't have an active part in ML3 development, and thanks for everybody again, without you I wouldn't have learned so much about magic until today with this little thing called Manalink

Well, it all depend on the developers now who are currently digging into the original files, after some trials and errors they were able to find some trigger about land. It's not much but there are also an original cards recoding project, in which it is possible to enhance a bit the AI.

From my experience, it seems performance (and probably AI quality) has already been improved with the latest code clean-up (at the end of 2011, beginning of 2012).

The current plan of the developers seems to be a complete reverse-engineering of the code, slowly translating deduced functions from asm to C. Theoretically, once most of the game engine is understood by the developers in a formal way, picking apart the AI should be one the first things they want to do anyway ;)

Like the "2000 card limit" that was once "impossible" to surpass, depending on how patient you are, I'm sure you'll still see some more "impossible" features and bugfixes from the dev team 8) :P

I guess this topic doesn't need to be an announcement any more. :)
