Forge Beta: 11-29-2013 ver 1.5.6

13401 cards in total.

Release Notes

- Preferences -

If hide tabs setting on, still show tabs for panes with multiple tabs.

Add setting for Compact Prompt, which hides prompt header and reduces font size to allow the prompt to be smaller in your custom layout.

- Deck Editor filtering -
Multi-color cards containing a filtered color will no longer show up in catalogs.

- Select abilities using context menu -
Instead of displaying a dialog to select abilities, you'll now get a context menu when left or right clicking cards with multiple ability choices.
Each ability will have a keyboard shortcut of 1-9 based on order.
Unplayable activated abilities will still appear disabled so shortcuts are constant regardless of game state.

- Mana symbols shown in Card Detail and ability menu -
The Card Detail pane now shows mana symbols in place of WUBRG and other appropriate text characters.
Same for ability context menu described above and Game Prompt pane.
Also fixed WUBRG of colored mana symbols on a few dozen cards.
Reminder text now appears in italics, with a preference that can be set to hide it.

- Quest mode bazaar -
Added a new Quest Item, Charm of Vigor. Let's you play best of 5 games rather than best of 3.

- Commander 2013 cards -
Forge now includes many of the new Commander 2013 cards. It may take a few days/weeks before these new card pictures become available for downloading via the "Download LQ Card Pictures" button. The LQ set pictures tend to take a few more weeks/months to process before they become available for downloading via the "Download LQ Set Pictures" button. Please be patient. The Forge devs are not involved in maintaining the servers that house these pictures.

Known Issues

Issues list | Open
Several people have noticed that the cards displayed on the battlefield will fail to be displayed when the number of cards on the battlefield increases. Maximizing the human panel can help to re-display the cards.

Some time was spent turning the static ETB triggers into the proper ETB replacement effects they should be, mainly to interact correctly with each other. This work is not yet finished. As a result there is currently some inconsistencies with "Enters the battlefield with counters" (Not incredibly noticeable).

A recent contribution to the code base should fix some of the bugs that people noticed with cloning type abilities. At this time there is one remaining issue that we hope will be addressed in the near future:
Copies of cards that setup Zone Change triggers via addComesIntoPlayCommand and addLeavesPlayCommand will not function correctly.

The Forge archive includes a readme.txt file and we ask that you spend a few minutes reading this file as it contains some information that may prove useful. We do tend to update this file at times and you should quickly read this file and look for new information for each and every new release. Thank you.

The archive format used for the Forge distribution is ".tar.bz2". There are utilities for Windows, Mac OS and the various *nix's that can be used to extract/decompress these ".tar.bz2" archives. We recommend that you extract/decompress the Forge archive into a new and unused folder.

Some people use the Windows application 7zip. This utility can be found at http://www.7-zip.org/download.html. Mac users can double click on the archive and the application Archive Utility will launch and extract the archive. Mac users do not need to download a separate utility.

Congrats on the new version! (especially for the new better filtering :))

Edit: Renaming quest decks does not work for me. It doesn't change the name and creates duplicates which I can't delete.
Is there a way to use the workshop? When I select a card it only displays the picture but the other fields are empty.

I've noticed that downloading the LQ Card art shows 871 items and after the download attempt it says 871 files skipped. Same with the Card Art above it. (54 items found 54 items skipped)

Thanks for the new version! While I appreciate the change to filtering, it still doesn't work quite as I would want it to.

I usually decide I want to build a deck with certain colors. I then filter out all the colors I'm not playing. The recent change has the (great!) effect of not showing me tons of cards I can't play in the colors I want to play. However, it does now filter out cards with hybrid costs (like Deathrite Shaman) if I filter out one of the two colors. This hides cards from my view I'd like to see.

For example, I want to build a mono black deck, so I filter out all other colors. Now I don't get to see the Shaman, altough I could very well play it.

Hi guys - absolutely love the forge. There seems to be some problems with the latest build on my machine though.

Starting Commander mode, with a single opponent, ensuring that my opponent is marked as AI and selecting a deck with lands, commander and so on that works in 1.5.5.

Player 2 (the AI) wins the toss and I (the human) am asked if I wish to play first. I'm then asked if player 2 wishes to keep their hand but only offered 'keep' as an option. I then keep or exile my own hand, which seems to work as expected.

Play begins but I have to hit the Enter key twice to move from phase to phase. The AI plays no cards on it's first turn. I complete my turn as expected. AI's second turn ends with a prompt "Cleanup Phase: You can only have 7 cards .." but I can neither see his hand, have any buttons enabled to click, or indeed should be doing that - it's the AIs turn.

Edit to add: repeated the above with three different decks, ensuring AI was selected. No lands played at all by AI

AI players don't seem to have their old 'people' names any more, and Forge has stopped referring to me as my player name and is back to calling me 'Player 1'

Hope that helps find the issues, I could have just missed something major in the notes of course! Will double check but cheers for the awesome game regardless!

Odd, I would have expected the script to display but be read-only for the release build. Currently, Workshop only supports editing existing scripts when running from source. The tab won't even show up unless you're running in Developer mode. Eventually, it will support creating custom cards and sets, but that's going to take some time.

My idea off hand to fix this would be to treat hybrid cards differently than multicolor cards and mark them as "hybrid" instead of "multi" in the color column of the table. The multicolor filter would then no longer apply to those cards, so they would show up regardless of whether the multicolor filter is set and what colors are filtered out so long as one of its colors is not filtered out.

The exception would be when all 5 colors are filtered out and only multicolor cards are shown, in which case both hybrid and multicolor cards would be shown.

How does that plan sound?

Noticed that in Commander if I select Human for Player 1 and AI for player 2, it chooses both as human. If I choose Player 1 as AI and Player 2 as Human, both are AI. HELP!!!

I was only noting that it shows that there are some available, but skipping them. I read the post, and the post doesn't say it did that.

It skips them because they are still not available. The cards missing are from magic 2014, Theros and Commander 2013 sets. You can still download them elsewhere and put them in the cache/pics in your Forge permanent folder.
