Known Issues

Issues list | Open
- The Mac OS application version -
We can now package Forge as a Mac OS application. You can double click the Forge.app icon to launch the forge application on your Apple computer running Mac OS. This application will automatically increase the java heap space memory for you as it launches. This version does not require the forge.command file and it does not need to start the Terminal application as part of the start up process.

The Mac OS X app version apparently requires the Mavericks OS and is not compatible with earlier OS X versions. People with earlier OS X versions should use the Windows and Linux version and launch forge on their Mac by double clicking on the included "forge.command" file.

- Commander 2013 cards -
It may take a few days/weeks before these new card pictures become available for downloading via the "Download LQ Card Pictures" button. The LQ set pictures tend to take a few more weeks/months to process before they become available for downloading via the "Download LQ Set Pictures" button. Please be patient. The Forge devs are not involved in maintaining the servers that house these pictures.

- Born of the Gods cards -
It may take a few days/weeks before these new card pictures become available for downloading via the "Download LQ Card Pictures" button. The LQ set pictures tend to take a few more weeks/months to process before they become available for downloading via the "Download LQ Set Pictures" button. Please be patient. The Forge devs are not involved in maintaining the servers that house these pictures.

There is a known issue with the timing of Leaves the Battlefield triggers and multiple permanents Leaving the Battlefield. As an example, when Blood Artist died at the same time as a lot of other creatures due to a Wrath of God, the Blood Artist should trigger for every creature but does not do so.

Several people have noticed that the cards displayed on the battlefield will fail to be displayed when the number of cards on the battlefield increases. Maximizing the human panel can help to re-display the cards.

Some time was spent turning the static ETB triggers into the proper ETB replacement effects they should be, mainly to interact correctly with each other. This work is not yet finished. As a result there is currently some inconsistencies with "Enters the battlefield with counters" (Not incredibly noticeable).

A recent contribution to the code base should fix some of the bugs that people noticed with cloning type abilities. At this time there is one remaining issue that we hope will be addressed in the near future:
Copies of cards that setup Zone Change triggers via addComesIntoPlayCommand and addLeavesPlayCommand will not function correctly.

The Forge archive includes a readme.txt file and we ask that you spend a few minutes reading this file as it contains some information that may prove useful. We do tend to update this file at times and you should quickly read this file and look for new information for each and every new release. Thank you.

The archive format used for the Forge distribution is ".tar.bz2". There are utilities for Windows, Mac OS and the various *nix's that can be used to extract/decompress these ".tar.bz2" archives. We recommend that you extract/decompress the Forge archive into a new and unused folder.

Some people use the Windows application 7zip. This utility can be found at http://www.7-zip.org/download.html. Mac users can double click on the archive and the application Archive Utility will launch and extract the archive. Mac users do not need to download a separate utility.

FYI, we skipped a version number because two JOU cards were incorrectly named in 1.5.16 and most of the cards didn't contain Oracle text due to Gatherer getting updated so late.

And on to your regularly scheduled programming:

Note: These numbers are going to be slightly off, because the reference data isn't quite available yet. Just add Journey into Nyx 100% and +165 completed cards everywhere :D

Overall
Implemented (Missing) / Total = Percentage Implemented
13642 (195) / 13837 = 98.59 % (98.61% counting the 165 JOU cards that are finished)

I am curious, was the wrongly named card Deicide, wrongly put as Decide? I still love that mistake, because I did it myself until I read what the card did XD.

Also, it did not say anything here about the quest mode updates. I see they now have booster boxes in the shop. Did they also update the match victory points to reflect how much you won by, or was that not implemented this time?

Nope. It was just the formatting of the card scripts. Two cards with hyphens had the hyphen in the filename, but Forge standardizes hyphens down to underscores in the filename.

Linux user here - the forge.sh launcher doesn't seem to work for me this time out. When I click on it and select "run in terminal", the terminal window flickers open and closes immediately. When I open a terminal first in the correct folder and type "forge.sh", I get a "forge.sh: command not found" error. I can see the file there when I LS the folder contents...

If I "manually" run the jar file by typing "java -Xmx1024m -jar forge-gui-desktop-1.5.17-jar-with-dependencies.jar" in the terminal (or even just pasting it from the .sh file, so I know it's entered correctly there), it works fine.

I don't see any differences between the 1.5.15 forge.sh, which works fine, and the 1.5.17 version, other than the target jar filename.

Any thoughts on what's going wrong here? (I can get it working without using the .sh launcher, so I'm more concerned with whether other users are having the same problem.)

Update: When I try bash forge.sh, I get this:

: No such file or directory
Error: Unable to access jarfile forge-gui-desktop-1.5.17-jar-with-dependencies.jar

Bash forge.sh works in version 1.5.15.

When the AI uses Armistice, I don't get 3 life even though I'm supposed to since I'm the only legal "target opponent" for the ability.

I noticed a similar problem with the forge command file. Somehow the end of line character in the shell and command files were replaced with a windows based end of line character. I think that this converted version should work for you.

It did - once I replaced the filename placeholder with the release filename. :-)

For the benefit of my fellow relative noobs, this line:

Code: Select all
java -Xmx1024m -jar $project.build.finalName$
should be:

Code: Select all
java -Xmx1024m -jar forge-gui-desktop-1.5.17-jar-with-dependencies.jar
I'm attaching a corrected version.

Thanks, Chris!

Ok, I read the note about tokens, but still I'm not sure what's happening and what I'm supposed to do.

I don't use the Forge pics downloader since I use the High Def versions of the cards from the torrent put together by the scanning team. So, what should I do about tokens?
Also I just cast a really miraculous Entreat the Angels , getting 9 angels... 2 get the Avacyn picture (I think), the others none.
Shouldn't they all get the same image anyway?

Thanks for any help.
And for the release of course!

Using the window build, in this version the bazaar has lost all its illustration, that worked in previous release.

edit : the nursery and petshop have the token illustration, but every other category is lacking its own.

13803 cards in total.

Release Notes

- Token Images -

The token images are now specific to each set (where possible). It is recommended that users delete the contents of their token image folder and download them again using the game's content downloaders.
Is this working? I deleted my images and downloaded new ones but only got images for pet tokens.

Also, most of the pics released by CCGHQ have the respective tokens with the rest of the edition. Would it be possible to add them to the respective edition instead of being on their own separate folder?

There's currently only a token assignment per card name. Each card is assigned the token that it generated in it's first printing, if any, or else a default token. I assigned set specific token pictures back to Mirrodin; earlier cards get the promo or default token. So unless in the future there are different tokens assigned based on the particular set of the card generating it there's not much point to moving them to the set pics folders.

Shouldn't they all get the same image anyway?
Entreat the Angels has two token pics assigned. One was a promo I believe.

The token card names are all listed in /Forge/res/lists/token-images.txt. If you want to set up your own there are a few ways to manage this. One might be to back up your tokens folder, delete images, download images (when it works) and replace from your backup to your own satisfaction.

Same problem as in previous versions, when playing a card that can be kicked, the dialogue is so long that you can't know which of the 2 options is the one that will kick the card

Image

And in that card case, the 2nd option is playing the card -without- kicking

Isn't that a scrollbar on that dialog? Can't you just scroll to find out which one is which?
