Unable to launch Forge

Many months ago I did something to my forge application, and now it won't launch. I suspected that I updated it. I've tried to get forge to run a few times since, but have failed every time. The forge application simply does nothing when I launch it. I downloaded the version for windows, and this is what happens when I launch the command file:

I have an old version of mac, version 10.6.8. I read that I need the latest operating system, Mavericks, but I'm having some rather ridiculous issues with such, and I'm unable to update because of so. I tried searching the forums for an old version of forge to run, but couldn't easily find what I wanted. I just want to play quest mode and it's not that big of a deal if I'm behind a number of sets (as long as RTR block is there), can anyone help me out here?

Recent versions of Forge require Java 7 and you likely only have Java 6 installed. You will need to install the JDK version rather than the JRE version. See: Forge Frequently Asked Questions
