Forge Beta: 10-22-2014 ver 1.5.29
14277 cards in total.
Release Notes
- New Floating Zone Windows -
Instead of getting a modal list view when clicking on zone icons like Graveyard or Flashback, you'll now get a modeless floating window with actual cards.
This floating window can be moved and resized as desired and can remain open while playing.
You can click cards in these windows to activate them the same way you do with cards in your hand, so long as there's an action you can take with them.
If you close the floating window and later reopen it, it should remember its location and size.
- Targeting Arrows for Stack -
When hovering over items on the stack, arrows will now be displayed between that item and all of its targets (both cards and players).
The arrow will be red if the spell/ability's activator is an opponent of the target or its controller, and blue if targeting an ally of the target or its controller.
- Smarter Card Edition Selection -
When generating random decks or viewing unique cards only in the deck editor catalog, Forge will no longer pick an edition of the card which you don't have the image for if there's an edition of the card you do have the image for.
- Improved Player Panel Display -
Players' avatars will no display larger.
Players' life totals will no longer get cut off.
Players' zone/mana counts will no longer overlap the icon, instead shrinking to fit if needed.
- New Commander 2014 cards -
We have added a branch to our SVN for the new cards that are currently being scripted. These cards are not yet available in this build of forge. Please be patient and they will soon become available.

- - New Khans of Tarkir cards -
Forge now includes many of the new Khans of Tarkir cards. It may take a few days/weeks before these new card pictures become available for downloading via the "Download LQ Card Pictures" button. The LQ set pictures tend to take a few more weeks/months to process before they become available for downloading via the "Download LQ Set Pictures" button. Please be patient. The Forge devs are not involved in maintaining the servers that house these pictures.
- Continued Work on Conspiracy -
Conspiracy is one of the strangest sets that have been released in some time. Currently, we have a few of the "Draft matters" cards scripted, although you'll find that they won't quite be available to you (unless you add them manually into a draft deck). Hopefully we'll get the appropriate functionality in so we can start including them in boosters and allowing you to add Conspiracy type cards straight to your deck the way you do every other variant card. We'll make sure to point out when all of these kinks have worked themselves out.
- The Mac OS application version -
We can now package Forge as a Mac OS application. You can double click the Forge.app icon to launch the forge application on your Apple computer running Mac OS. This application will automatically increase the java heap space memory for you as it launches. This version does not require the forge.command file and it does not need to start the Terminal application as part of the start up process.
The Mac OS X app version apparently requires the Mavericks OS and is not compatible with earlier OS X versions. People with earlier OS X versions should use the Windows and Linux version and launch forge on their Mac by double clicking on the included "forge.command" file.
- Magic 2015 cards -
It may take a few days/weeks before these new card pictures become available for downloading via the "Download LQ Card Pictures" button. The LQ set pictures tend to take a few more weeks/months to process before they become available for downloading via the "Download LQ Set Pictures" button. Please be patient. There is a known issue with the cost reduction for cards that have color-locked X in their mana cost (e.g. Drain Life, Soul Burn). Cost reduction will not apply correctly to these cards if the amount by which the cost is reduced is greater than the amount of colorless mana in the mana cost specified on the card (e.g. 1 for Drain Life, 2 for Soul Burn). Fixing this issue likely requires rewriting the way announced color-locked X is interpreted and paid (most likely it has to be represented with colorless mana shards but still locked to the colors required by the card).
Several people have noticed that the cards displayed on the battlefield will fail to be displayed when the number of cards on the battlefield increases. Maximizing the human panel can help to re-display the cards.
Some time was spent turning the static ETB triggers into the proper ETB replacement effects they should be, mainly to interact correctly with each other. This work is not yet finished. As a result there is currently some inconsistencies with "Enters the battlefield with counters" (Not incredibly noticeable).
A recent contribution to the code base should fix some of the bugs that people noticed with cloning type abilities. At this time there is one remaining issue that we hope will be addressed in the near future:
Copies of cards that setup Zone Change triggers via addComesIntoPlayCommand and addLeavesPlayCommand will not function correctly.
The Forge archive includes a readme.txt file and we ask that you spend a few minutes reading this file as it contains some information that may prove useful. We do tend to update this file at times and you should quickly read this file and look for new information for each and every new release. Thank you.
The archive format used for the Forge distribution is ".tar.bz2". There are utilities for Windows, Mac OS and the various *nix's that can be used to extract/decompress these ".tar.bz2" archives. We recommend that you extract/decompress the Forge archive into a new and unused folder.
Some people use the Windows application 7zip. This utility can be found at http://www.7-zip.org/download.html. Mac users can double click on the archive and the application Archive Utility will launch and extract the archive. Mac users do not need to download a separate utility.

Description: I got this crash randomly when moving my mouse around the field, can't really say what exactly triggered it. I was unable to continue playing the game because this crash kept appearing over and over if I clicked "Continue", I had to restart Forge. This happens both in v1.5.29 (the official build that was just released) and in the current self-compiled SVN snapshot (r28056) as well. If you're curious, my targeting overlay setting is set to "on mouse over".

Mana Confluence is bugged.
When casting a spell, tap Mana Confluence for mana. Choose NO to pay 1 life. Mana Confluence untaps and but you are given a colored mana towards the cost of the spell. You can then use Mana Confluence again on the same spell but it works properly the second time.

I can't say at 100% it's a but, as it can be an incredible long streak of bad luck in the spellshop item generation, but on all the quests i have currently, i can travel in all the worlds multiple times to refresh each spellshops and i have never seen a single booster box of any set.
All i see is
booster pack
fat pack
intro deck/tourney deck/event deck
but no booster box
Anyone see currently a booster box in the shop on 1.5.29 in any quest worlds spellshop ?

Somehow you're getting into a state where it thinks you're hovering over a stack item but the stack is actually hidden. Do you know how you're doing that? Is the stack becoming hidden programatically while your mouse is over it?Agetian wrote:Description: I got this crash randomly when moving my mouse around the field, can't really say what exactly triggered it. EDIT: Never mind, I figured out how it can occur. I just committed a fix for this (r28057), which I guess will be available in the next snapshot. Sorry I didn't catch this before the Beta release.
As a workaround until you update, just be sure you're not hovering over a stack item when the stack changes.

This should be fixed by r28058 which I just committed. So, I guess, the next snapshot. I imagine this one would be hard to reproduce even without the fix, so you don't need to update just for it.Fizanko wrote:concurrent error (never saw this one before) just appeared when the AI decided to block my Kazandu Blademaster (that has some counters on it) attacker with its Nest Invader (that is indestructible and benefit from +1/+1 with the AI Eldrazi Monument ) :I could continue to play after clicking "Continue" on the error

I actually don't remember seeing one in a long time, now that you mention it. Are there any restrictions on them appearing in general?Fizanko wrote:Anyone see currently a booster box in the shop on 1.5.29 in any quest worlds spellshop ?

I get this often - the AI is trying to gangblock something in the attempt to kill it, but it includes a 0 power creature among the blockers resulting in disaster.
For example - I attack with Basal Thrull, he blocks with Thallid... and Spore Flower. Similar situations happen with other 0 powered creatures.
I think it's not counting 0 power right.

Computer had a black creature with undying on the field and it was equipped with Loxodon Warhammer. It got killed by blocking one of my creatures and came back with the +1/+1 counter and was still equipped but did not get the +3/+0 only the lifelink from the warhammer.

These were fixed right after the release, so I'd recommend taking the first available snapshot build. In the meantime, as I mentioned above, just be sure to not hover over the stack when it changes, and you shouldn't hit this.Nordos wrote:Description: I casted Grasp of Darkness on a creature the opponent controlled, he countered it with Turn AsideHappened another time with Stoic Rebuttal

With this version, every time I try to start a Vanguard game, I get an exception. This occurs before any in-game prompts and before libraries are populated. I've confirmed it occurs even with a simple test deck of nothing but Dryad Arbor and Serra. If I press Continue, the game does not proceed, no cards are in the game, and the only prompt is "Game Setup" with OK and Cancel buttons that do nothing. Regular (non-vanguard) games work normally.
