Using Gatherer Extracter v3.2 for missing Images
by blisfulloblivion » 27 Jan 2016, 21:30
I've noticed that with a new install Forge is missing some images. Out of the 15,000+ cards only about 13,000 default cards download. While there is a nice thread where users have uploaded set files you have to manually transfer them.
Downloading Gatherer Explorer is much simpler. Once its set up you just have to open it up and select whatever sets are missing.
Instructions for Windows
1. Download Gatherer Extractor (GE) and install (You may be prompted to install an add-on for Microsoft office to run it)
2. Open file explorer (any file will work) and select the view tab and select the
Hidden Items check box. This allows GE to see the hidden files where Forge
stores its images.
Win7 users may need to do so through the
Control Panel-> Appearance and Personilization-> Folder Options-> Show Hidden Files and Folders-> View tab-> Files and Folders-> Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives
3. Open GE if you haven't already and select Options--> Card Scans. At the very
top you will see Save Path. Go ahead and click the browse icon (folder) and
navigate to: C:\Users\(Username)\AppData\Local\Forge\Cache\pics\cards
4. Press ok to save and exit out.
5. Now click the small globe icon to the upper left to connect to the scan
sources. Once you do that a list should appear of the different card sets.
6. Just select the sets you’re interested in and then select one of the
download data scan options which will process the sets making them appear in
the main box.
7. To download just the scans select the first icon "Download all cards from the
list" to have the new scans downloaded directly into the Forge card file.
8. To see the new cards just exit out of Forge and reopen it and they should be
there.
This is just a very simple guide and does not go into the additional features of Gatherer Extractor. I hope this is helpful

Just to confirm. The images extracted from Gatherer this way are considered high quality?

from my experience they're low quality; still, better than having to search a long time for a single set of pics.Arclight wrote:Just to confirm. The images extracted from Gatherer this way are considered high quality?
