forge for android translation
by lonely-unicorn » 27 Mar 2022, 15:52
Hi
I want to translate forge for android to Dutch language.
I'm no programmer and don't know how to do this.
Can somebody tell me step by step how to do this?
I speak English and Dutch but have no knowledge of the files needed or the format the translation must be used.
thx

Hi,
in your forge folder under \res\languages you will find a file en-US.properties. You may copie it and rename it to nl-NL.properties.
It is a plain text file and can be edited with any text editor.
I recommend this only to get an overview and to get an entry.
But to realy contribute to the project you should then join on discord and the project page on GitLab.
Maybe you could post yout first translation here at the forum or better post it on discord, so that one of the developers can integrate it into forge. After that it is realy easy to update your file an GitLab with new translations when needed.
It's the way I did and do "my thing". I'm doing the most part of the german translation.
Carry on!

As far as I know: yes
The language files contain entries for both versions. If an entry is only for the mobile version the desktop version of forge will ignore it. And vice versa.
So you are doing the translation for both versions in one sweep.
