HQ Scans of cards from other TCGs besides Magic?

Postby Jemak » 11 Jun 2010, 06:14

Hi There, I hope this is the right forum to put this in since it is pretty well off the general topic of Magic,

I was amazed at the scan collection you have here for the M:TG cards, and I am looking for similar sources for other card games, in particular the World of Warcraft Trading card game. I am having difficulty finding any suitable scans that are anywhere near the quality of the Magic ones found here. I have been able to find very little and I'm kind of stuck, wanting to goof around with some proxy/custom WoW TGC card ideas with no quality source art to go off of.

I've been scouring the internet using google and the best I've found so far was what they have at wowtcgdb.com and those aren't quite sharp enough to be useful. I also found some image sets for use with OCTGN and those were laughably low-resolution.

Any help would be appreciated, I know this is primarily a Magic forum but I also know that a lot of folks here are pretty savvy about this kind of stuff so here's hoping

Thanks in advance and sorry for the interruption :D

Except MTG we only have some scans for LOTR TCG.

Bummer. Well thank you anyway, I appreciate it.

If anyone knows of anywhere else I might be able to find what I'm looking for, I would be immensely thankful.

Cheers :D

We've had an open invitation to the world for years to help us expand our collection, but nobody has taken us up on it. If anyone has a collection of cards and a good scanner, we would love to process and archive them. MTG is not the alpha and omega of CCG's.

Howdy again,

Thought I might give this the ol' obligatory bump in hopes that maybe someone new might see it or have some information before the thread dies.

Thanks for everything :D

I suggest visiting http://www.warcraft-tcg.de It's a german site, I know, but they have quite good scans compared to anything else I've manage to find. However, some of the English scans are bad quality, and german scans (well, most of them), have tags directly on the pictures. You'll also find that a part of English scans are missing. Here are the examples:

Good English Scan:

Casual German Scan:

Bad English Scan:

Technically, it is the Alpha of CCGs, since it was the first big one :p The only one I've ever seen quoted as being older is some ancient baseball CCG from about a hundred years ago.

I don't remember where I got it, but for MWS there is a complete collection of scanned cards for Netrunner. It's a bit goofy, though, because they had to adapt a few things; for instance, the artwork is a scan of the entire card, and they adapted power, toughness, casting cost, etc to match the appropriate card types and values in Netrunner.

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but I was curious that after two years of the game slowly regaining its popularity that anyone had started a collection anywhere on high-quality WoW TCG scans. All searches still turn up short, even after all this time :(

Thanks everyone!

Sorry, no one has come up with anything near a complete set of WoW or any other CCG. :(
