Piper of Doom

I have to admit there's a few cheap tricks with older cards in here, but it's been holding its own against a lot of decks I've played it against. I'm sure it needs to be streamlined, but I thought I'd at least post the concept.

37 Creatures
-----------------
2 Sapling of Colfenor
2 Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
2 Artisan of Kozilek
3 Urborg Elf
2 Kodama of the North Tree
4 Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
2 Utopia Tree
2 Ant Queen
4 Ulamog's Crusher
2 Werebear
3 Vine Trellis
4 Elvish Piper
3 Sakura-Tribe Elder
2 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

51 Spells
--------------
4 Reanimate
4 Animate Dead
4 Putrefy
4 Defense of the Heart
4 Buried Alive
4 Maelstrom Pulse
4 Entomb
3 Gaea's Cradle
4 Demonic Tutor
4 Zombify
4 Sylvan Tutor

4 Artifact Equipment
----------------
4 Lightning Greaves

38 Land
----------------
17 Swamp
16 Forest
5 Golgari Rot Farm

Basically, it uses the obvious combo with Elvish Piper and the Eldrazi monsters, but it also takes advantage of Defense of The Heart and Entomb/Buried Alive with resurrect cards that don't have a casting cost to put creatures back onto the battlefield.

Sidenote: Everytime I bring out two Kozilek Butcher of Truths, they discard. Is that a function or a bug? I thought having two different versions of a Planeswalker discard was a bug until I read further.

Interesting deck. I will try it out. :)

Yes, Kozilek Butcher of Truth is a Legendary creature. There can be only one of a specific legendary card on the battlefield at a time. A second copy will cause both to go to the graveyard.

You can have several different legendary cards on the battlefield at a time provided that they are named differently. You can have the following on the battlefield at the same time for ex.:

1x Kozilek Butcher of Truth
1x Umezawa's Jitte
1x Iona, Shield of Emeria
1x Chromium
1x Garza Zol, Plague Queen
1x Honden of Infinite Rage
1x Flagstones of Trokair

Ahhh - I guess that's one of those little details no one mentions when you learn the game. I've only been playing for about a month or so.

I streamlined and edited the deck a little bit, and this version is much more consistent:

32 Creatures
---------------
2 Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
2 Artisan of Kozilek
3 Urborg Elf
4 Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
2 Utopia Tree
4 Ulamog's Crusher
4 Vine Trellis
2 Werebear
4 Elvish Piper
3 Sakura-Tribe Elder
2 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

46 Sorceries
-----------------
4 Reanimate
4 Sylvan Tutor
4 Buried Alive
4 Maelstrom Pulse
4 Entomb
4 Demonic Tutor
2 Rancor
4 Zombify
4 Animate Dead
4 Putrefy
4 Defense of the Heart

38 Land
-----------------
17 Swamp
5 Golgari Rot Farm
16 Forest

4 Artifact Equipment
----------------
4 Lightning Greaves

Also, are you supposed to be able to re-equip artifact equipment endlessly? Lightning Greaves is insanely powerful in this deck in that it allows you to bring out Elvish Piper, use it's ability to get out an Eldrazi, then re-equip the Eldrazi to attack all in one turn.

Need more Emrakul, less Kozilek.
