ODBC: VOTE HERE Aug-Oct Balance: Machine vs. Nature

Postby Resonantg » 16 Oct 2010, 04:47

Here we are guys! This is where you vote on your choice for the best decks this challenge. They have all been checked to make sure they qualify, and it's up to you to see which one best matches the goal of balance. How you choose is up to you, but you must vote in the following format:

First Choice
Second Choice
Third Choice

Post your selections to this thread. All must be completed by Midnight Halloween night to be accepted! muhuhahaahhahaaaaaa! After that, I will tally the votes and then PM the winner for their selection of the next challenge topic.

The viable decks are:

ArtCritters by Lord of 13

Big Green by Hellfish

ODBC Knights by Zaroblan

So 7 entries. Good job all on your work. I look towards the round robin to see who's the biggest badass. ;)

Also as a side note, Those who entered, start considering what you want to do for the next theme, so we can keep on schedule for the November/December contest. It must be simple to explain and not require any real in depth knowledge of Magic (you don't have to have read the books or need to use only a particular set).

Good luck to all.

Dude, I think for future contests, somebody should be assigned to check if all deck entries are following the rules. I just re-read the 1st page of the ODBC: Balance thread and it specifically stated that only cards implemented up to August 2010 are allowed; cards implemented beyond that are not allowed. Sword of Body and Mind was implemented in September. There are 2 in ODBC Knights.

Also, I think you mentioned that for this period's contest, we are to follow the Banned and Restricted List of WotC. I didn't check the most recent update of that list, but I believe Mox Emerald is still restricted to 1. There are 4 in BigGreen.

Perhaps we can make an exception for now since we're already in the voting stage and we have so few entries. Sorry if I pointed it out at this late stage. I only noticed the discrepancies today.

Sigh, sorry guys. I blew it. I did not catch that last time either. I'm working on coming up with a standard format of the rules so everyone can see quickly what is and isn't kosher. Also my apologies to those whom I didn't catch and inform before the vote started. It was just as unfair to them that I didn't do full dilligence to my work.

My apologies. I'm not going to make excuses for my lapse. I should have caught them. I will leave it up to the individual voters if they disallow on their own ODBC Knights and Big Green.

That's the most fair I think I can be at this point. Thank you Psi for catching me on this.

Meh, that's alright Resonantg... I'm much guiltier in this respect due to many buggy Forge releases :)

Thanks for the votes, gang. :D

This was a really fun and challenging contest that made me view how I approached deck building in a different way, and rate cards differently. I hope that I can come up with something that will be just as fun and challenging.

No kidding LU. I didn't never tried to just work through creatures and artifacts before let alone balance them. Really a great idea. Made me realize how many times I rely on enchantments and other things instead of resorting to creatures with spell like abilities.

I also learned a bit about deck building from this challenge. I hope that the difficulty didn't keep too many away.
