ODBC: Nov/Dec Challenge - More Than One Way
Posted: 03 Nov 2010, 15:23
Welcome back once again to another edition of THUNDERDOME... err umm, I mean the Forge Official Deck Building Challenge! I'm trying to get this into a standardized format for ease of rules. So here we go.
This challenge topic is: "More Than One Way". The goal of this challenge is to win by any means OTHER than lifepoint depletion. Poison Counters, Deck Milling or Special Victory cards/conditions must be the primary focus and means of victory. Although lifepoint victories is allowable, it must not be the focus of the deck. Judging should be based on how well this theme is met.
Poison and Deck Milling I think is fairly easy to understand. Special Victory Cards we currently as of version 1031 are:
Battle of Wits
Felidar Sovereign
Helix Pinnacle
Epic Struggle
Door to Nothingness
Barren Glory
Near-Death Experience
Mortal Combat
Test of Endurance
If future November versions allow other victory card conditions, they will all be allowed.
NOTE -- Cards that kill by lifepoint depletion, regardless of it's method is not an alternative method (Black Vice, Mana Barbs, Incindiary Command, Zuran Spellcaster). They are still lifepoint depletion. They aren't banned, but just be aware of that.
Completed decks ready to go, upload here in zip/rar/dck format.
Other than that, here's the new (hopefully standardized) rules.
Deck Size: 60+ cards
Format/Restricted/Banned Format: VINTAGE format (as set by WOTC)
Forge Edition: November versions or earlier.
Required Cards: None
Specifically Restricted Cards: None
Card Colors: All
Contest Close Date: Dec 17th, 2010 Midnight Central Standard Time.
Voting Close Date: 1-1-11 Midnight CST(yes, you get 1 extra day in case of partying hard).
If I missed anything, PM me or post questions here. Good luck! Tell your friends! I think this one will make you look at deck building differently and give LOTS of good ideas.
