Unfortunately this topic hasn't been updated for some time and 3 more updates have been released since(you only need the latest update but you need all 3 cardart updates read instructions on the link below).So you don't have the latest version which can be found always in the patch forum top post and the bug you mention must be fixed in the latest version:

Can someone explain to me in the least amount of steps of how to install from scratch??

I don't have any versions of the game on my current computer just want the least amount of stuff needed to install Shandalar 3.0 and Manalink 3.0 so I can enjoy this game again with the latest Fate Reforged and Artworks.

I just want an easy step by step with the least amount of steps and files needed.

Go to the first page in this thread and download a version of the game (preferably one of the first 2). Then go to the Patches folder, find the latest patch (usually it will be at the top), download the patch and unzip all of the files into the program directory (make sure your virus scanner is turned off as several files in the archive give false positives). Then follow the instructions in the patch thread for downloading artwork.

But note: Fate Reforged hasn't been coded yet and Shandalar hasn't been updated in ages (it basically is the original game with no changes).

I did what you all said and updated my Image from the last to the latest...

When I am in Game I am missing Images of Commander 2014 images but cards are there but images aren't.

you must download the card art too. same thread where you got the patch it is usually lower in the first post. always done by Sonic.

Could you please give me a link as to where I can download it so I can have the latest card arts??

I can't seem to find it...I put ALL the 8 Card arts files in the cardart folder one at a time and did the instructions.


Manalink-3-20141220-COMM2014 that is the file I downloaded and overwrote the other files in the Manalink>Program File....All Art is working except for the Commander 2014 art.

I am sorry but I just need a little more help...thanks for the help so far.

You have downloaded the updated patch but not the updated art for commanders just bellow the normal upadate.

Yes,it does you must have missed downloading or installing a file,probably the first of the 8 in that raw as this was included back in November 2002 patch about old and new ravnica.

If you do it correctly you must have 13893 image files in your cardartmanalink folder.

I played a lot with the original game, but this is the first time I've heard about the updated manalink, new cards etc.

I have a question: after installing the game, should I run the patches in order, or the latest patch will give me all the added cards and features?

You install the game from first post first or second link.
Then you go in patches forum and download Only the latest update:

BUT you have to download all cardart updates in order as stated in the same link same post almost in the end read carefully:

If you are downloading Manalink 3.0 for the first time, or your currently installed ‘CardArtManalink’ folder is older than the January 2014 release, please download and install the folder and files in the following archives

there are 8 ‘CardArtManalink’ folders to install and then the latest cardartmanalink CardArtManalink_ December 2014.
Then every new update you only need the new patch and new cardart only.

I have attempted a brand new install, utilizing the file from ozks found on page 1 of this thread, and then installing the CardArtManalink files detailed in the instructions found in the Fate Reforged archive, which resulted in the requisite 14,076 files.

But the program will not launch. When I attempt Magic.exe, I get an immediate system error of:

X The program can't start because manalinkeh.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.


So on a lark, I tried copying manalinkeh.dll from an older installation to the new installation. This time when I attempt to launch Magic.exe, the system seems to chew on this for a couple of seconds, and then comes back with:

Windows can check online for a solution to the problem
Check online for a solution and close the program
Close the program

You forgot to install the latest patch per my directions in my post above.
1- ozks
2- latest patch
3- cardart
always ovewrite patches.

Okay, I deleted everything* and started over, in the order you indicated. However, I'm still having the same error that I mentioned above, when I attempt to run Magic.exe. So once again, just for the helluvit, I tried copying that missing .dll from my previous installation (2012). Now I'm getting an error saying that I don't have permission. I don't know why, as I'm the only person on this computer and run everything as Admin.

Just as a reference, if I execute Decks.exe, it seems to run fine.

Aswan Jaguar, I appreciate your post this morning. I'm not computer illiterate, and I've managed installs in the past. But this is getting frustrating. Any other ideas?


* I actually can't delete everything, because the .ttf files refuse to be touched.
