How do I start a game over the net ?

I want to play with my friend over the computer but it wont let me access
the tcp/ip traffic in the menu to add an IP or server adress ?
Maybe I did something wrong.
Would appreciate the help
ps. Kick ass im so happy this game was brought back to life.... Played this for soooooo many
hours as a young kid.
