decompressed deckdll.dll and cardartlib.dll

Postby gmzombie » 25 Nov 2009, 17:37

OK so with the new uncompressed files i got from Snacko i have found out where the deck builder art is now. Now a question to Jatill or anybody who codes. can you implement or paste the new bmp code into the dll file so that it will run bmps...i know that we would have to change the areas which we want to make the game run bmps like before but i would like to be able to add new buttons into the system and correspond them to new set numbers..is this possible
can I maze of ith your snowstorm?

http://home.comcast.net/~gmzombie/index.html old stuff in here. don't use this stuff right now till I get time to get back into it and readjust.

Can you upload the files to your website? I'll take a peek.

Ok, step 2. Where is the reference to the deckbuilder art, and how did you find it?

it is in the deckdll.dll file. i opened it up with IDA and the sub is sub100067c0. In PE Explorer the sub is sub_L100067c0 there are all the .pic files for the buttons, background and whatnot. the card art lib has the borders and if i may ask in that reguard after we get this going is to add the original but high res bmps of the other lands and such...if it is an easy fix. i mean that is on the back burner but if it is possible that would be cool too.

Needles to say, I'm very interested in what will come up of your investigations. :)

as you imagine, I'll do the buttons and we can see if we can give the deck builder the same feel as the duel area.

which makes me think (a bit off topic).... jatill would it be possible to trade the card back in the duel area for a bmp ?

im no coder but couldnt you just insert the bmp code into the dll at the end and have the bmps reference at that codepoint? then go back and change the pics to bmps? i dunno like i said im no coder but thought id ask about that.

Good news. I can change the buttons to bmps. (I only tried the arifact button, but I assume they'll all work...)

Are you referring to the back of your library? Maybe. What's the name of the .pic for that?

GmZombie-
Using your magic tools, can you tell where there is a reference to cardartnew?

Yes, the back of the library should be it but also, the big card back that you see when no card is selected on the left handside of the duel area. ithink it's the same image whenever you see the back of a card. if i'm not mistaken it could be Cardback.pic in the cardart folder

great news concerning the buttons, i shall start to make new buttons shortly :)

Yes. I see a reference to CardArt but never cardartnew.

Edit: I actually see what I'm looking for at 40c19a in CardArtLib.dll. Can you edit stuff in PE Explorer? When I open this file in Olly, I can't access that address.

Ok, too avoid anyh missunderstanding, this is the card back iage I was refering to :

http://rapidshare.com/files/314790669/cardback_look.jpg

also I'm starting to make buttons for the deck builder. they look like this :

http://rapidshare.com/files/314788377/but_tempest.bmp
I made a 8th edition button, but the symbols I found for but 8th edition were too crappy. if one of you knows were I can find it in a decent size (bigger than gatherer) please let me know.

So the red mana symbol toggles on and off 8th edition, is that right? How about just a giant '8'? As for the rest of the buttons, I think they are fine as-is. I'd be happy to see the background change, though.
