Hey new here just wanted to add this. followed all the steps and i did not get the 40/40 unlocks even tho i bought all the deck keys.

To fix it i simply changed one of the steam ids in the deck.xml to steam_id_1="213850" steam_id_2="213850" unlocking the deck to a foil version which then unlocked all the cards to 40/40 for all the decks.

So now have all decks with 40/40 and one deck with foil

That is odd. All I know for certain is that buying the deck keys and changing the game_mode to 0 instantly gave me 40/40 for all decks.

So what I did to circumvent this (sorta) was to play once with the edited copy of magic 2014, ie the one with 40/40 unlocked on all decks, and then play with the regular, untouched version. Steam remembers that I had those cards unlocked, so it gives them to me without having to use the corrupted data files. Thus I am allowed to play online. I would assume that this process does not work with decks that you have manually unlocked (like Ramaz) unless you build an entirely new .wad and include the coding, illustrations, ID, and format it correctly.

I kind of wanted to test that out myself. I bought the game again on a separate steam account, this time without the deck keys. Only changing the game_mode to 0, as we all know now, only made the game show 0/40 for all the decks. When I also changed the steam_id_1 to "213850" I then had 40/40 for all decks. Trying to play multiplayer with the WAD that has steam_id_1 set to "213850" does indeed generate an error on your opponents screen in the lobby, making it impossible for them to start a game with you. I closed the game and replaced the DATA_DECKS_D14.WAD with the one that only has the game_mode changed. When I loaded the game, all my decks were back to 0/40. I then went back to using the WAD with the steam_id_1="213850" and game_mode="0" so I had 40/40 cards again. I edited one deck, saved it, and then exited the game. I then switched back to the original untouched WAD, and I still had 40/40 for all decks and I was able to play multiplayer games.

I think that might be the most foolproof way to go about it. Change both the game_mode's to 0 and steam_id_1's to 213850 in DATA_DECKS_D14.WAD. Start the game with 40/40 cards for all decks. Edit and save a deck. Exit the game. Replace hacked WAD with original WAD. Optionally remove d3dx9_43.dll from directory.

yeah, but i thought i might have to run the mod again after dlc comes out, so i wrote a script as a helper, then i figured maybe other people might want to save some time so i upped it to pastebin

FYI, I ran it since I already have IDLE installed and it did indeed save me a bunch of tedious file-editing, so thanks.

I have d3dx9_43.dll in same folder than DotP_D14.exe.
I packed DATA_DECKS_D14.wad and renamed it.
I tryed with only a small change (2 -> 0) on one deck.
I use HexEdit and not notepad to modify the files.
I tried Unpacking then Packing without anychange, and it Crash.
I checked size of the new DATA_DECKS_D14.wad, it's 270 724 ko, is that right?

Are you using the d3dx9_43.dll made for Magic 2014? The one for 2013 will not work.

Thx Mushroom Cap, you was right i used the wrong one, i unlocked all decks 40/40. Thanks you again for the quick answer and great thread.

Guys, I assume we can unlock additional sealed decks slots similar way. Any one has been looking into it?

I followed the directions to both unlock all decks and unlock promo cards but it didn't work. Anyone else had this issue? A buddy bought me the avacyn deck so if nothing else i should have gotten the promo for that, but nothing happened. All of my decks are exactly as they were before the edits. I even copied the wad over from the directory, deleted the old unpack, unpacked it again, and checked the xml files to make sure everything was changed, and it is.

Er... i didn't understand where to change the steam_id. In the decks.xml is no entry like steam_id_1

All ten of the D14_"deck name".XML files have a steam_id_1 at the top of the file. They are not hard to find. \DATA_DECKS_D14\DATA_ALL_PLATFORMS\DECKS ... good luck.
