Easiest way for a newb to play this on a MacBook Air?

Hey guys so I am somewhat new to MTG and new to emulators and virtualizations and such but I want to get some of these MTG programs and games to run on my MacBook Air from 2019. It's my daily driver and I am only moderately tech savvy so I don't want to risk not being able to use my MacBook because of problems or a virus or whatever.
I would also like to get old abandonware to work as well so if there are any programs that would allow me to run this or the other MTG programs that I've seen on the abandonware sites that would be great. I was also looking at Cockatrice and Forge because they looked like they had that basic UI interface that I was looking for. I hate todays bloated GUI's and am interested in any games or programs that give me that Win 95 feel!
