How is the online play?

Postby Fracturedorb » 26 Jan 2011, 13:29

I have a friend of mine who I've been talking to about this and he's interested in picking up DOTP on PC if the online stuff works with the custom mods.

So how does the game run online if both of us have the exact same custom mod installs? If either of us make a new deck do we need to send that deck file to the other? I have not yet picked up the game (gonna do that this weekend) but want to see what I'm in for once I do. I have to explain all this to him as he's not the biggest PC person.

If you both have the same mods then AFAIK there are no problems. Just please don't try to play someone who is using the standard version as that's not considered fair plus you could get banned.

What I don't understand is how this could possibly work. Aren't the cards/rules hosted by the server application?

No. From what I've read, the server only checks very basic things, like the revision of the exe. Lots of people complain about that on the Steam forum.
