Kalonian Tusker is fair enough... Garruk's Companion has 1 less toughness and trample for the same cost. But I hope to see cards that are more interesting ability-wise...

The other ones seem to be Dragon Maze previews... I like the Gruul one, perfect for creature-based-decks-loving guys like me.

A casual 6 damage to the face with Vigilance and Reach, why would anyone like such a card?

I'm also waiting to see some cards with some more interesting abilities (those abilities that we can't already properly code with DotP 2013). Like multi-colour land, mana abilities that require more than just tap self, copying of just abilities from other cards, cards that can counter activated abilities, etc....

Judging from what he says at the end of the following video, there's a high chance that WiNGSPAN TT will get an exclusive DotP2014 demo like last year (no, he doesn't have it yet, the video shows two DotP2013 matches ):
I just hope that he's not right when he says that DotP2014 will probably have very basic decks compared to DotP2013... basic decks = less complicated abilities = less territory for us modders to walk on.
The sealed play, on the contrary, excites me as much as him: I didn't realize that fully when I first read it on the "beta achievements" page, but now that I think about it more, it's really something I'm looking forward to, because I could just code more cards without making decks, and then play them in a sealed match as better as I can. I wonder how the AI will manage sealed deck building: I can't see it as an automatizable process, but hopefully I'm wrong.

Sealed has me a bit worried, just looking at the leaked deck lists you can see a clear power drop off from last year's decks. This is assuming that they don't want players to just break the game. Of course, this is bad news for us trying to get new cards coded with abilities that previously did not exist. The developers may just cut back and mostly add simple and "vanilla" type cards.

I hope they include a real manapool in DotP 2014, without this we will never have the most important factor, the mana (which is the basis of magic ).
I can't imagine stainless overlook this or they did it on purpose. Without manapool, there will be no real mana. DotP 2014 should be mature enough to handle this mana system.

They indeed did it on purpose. It hurts everytime I read it, but I had to search for that stupid sentence on the Wizards site again to quote it:kevlahnota wrote:I can't imagine stainless overlook this or they did it on purpose.
Who wants to do some face-smashing on DotP developers now?Max McCall wrote:Similarly, because we want to streamline core Magic game play as much as possible, we don't use a mana pool in Duels. When you want to cast a spell, you click on it and it happens. Having to worry about which lands to tap just adds bookkeeping to Magic. More bookkeeping means less face-smashing. Less face-smashing is a problem.

Some slight "new" information:
10 new decks
10 new challenges
15 Encounters
New Planeswalker "Rumas" (spelling?) that manipulates Chandra to get to Zendikar, which I assume is the final boss. Although, if you have read the lore it was Bolas that had manipulated to get Jace, Sarkhan and Chandra all to meet up and unknowingly open the Eye of Ugin to release Emrakul, Kozilek and Ulamog.

I am sure none of you care but I thought I should throw that in there. :pAt some point, Nicol Bolas took notice of the volatile nature of Zendikar. He investigated the Eye of Ugin and left after studying it. Long afterwards, Bolas sent Vol to guard the Eye, to make sure nothing disturbed it.
Sarkhan was, however, misled. Bolas had sought out and defeated Ugin, extracting a great deal of information about the Eldrazi and the lock that kept them contained. Knowing of the titans and what it would take to unleash them, Bolas sent Sarkhan to the Eye and manipulated the pyromancer Chandra Nalaar into arriving at the same time. Unfortunately, that only solved 2/3rds of the problem, and so Bolas gambled that Jace would show up if prodded in that direction. The ends to his manipulations were clear, the release of the Eldrazi, but the purpose remains shrouded in mystery.

New information about the sealed campaign. This comes directly from Wizards_Sean the community manager:
http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/ ... d_Campaign
http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/ ... d_Campaign
Hi! I wanted to provide further explanation on how the Sealed Campaign will work in Magic 2014 – Duels of the Planeswalkers:
The game will come with two available slots for players to start Sealed Campaigns. These slots will keep all the deck edits and additions you make, plus your progress though the Sealed Deck Campaign. If you’d like to save more than two Sealed Decks, additional slots can be purchased for $1.99 each, and each slot will give you access to a different pool of cards and allows you to unlock different boosters. All Booster Packs use cards from a 180+ card “set” that’s unique to the game. To begin a Campaign, players will pick an open slot and get six 14-card Booster Packs to open. Players are then taken to the Deck Editor so they can create a 40-card Sealed Deck out of the 84 card pool they’ve opened (plus Basic Lands).
When finished creating a deck, players can then battle their way through the Sealed Deck Campaign in order to unlock an additional three Booster Packs along the way. At the end of the Campaign there will be a boss fight where the player will play to defeat another Sealed Deck. You can also use your Sealed Decks to play against other players.
