It can happen if you use the xmage client while updating at the same time.
Otherwise what error message is written to the xmage_launcher.log file in the xmage directory?

Hi All,

Having issues where I have downloaded the xmage launcher (currently v 0.3.4).
I open the launcher window and it tells me I need to update and I accept.
It then says the update has been completed and xmage needs to restart.
Restarts as Xmage 3.4.
xmage_Launcher.log reads;
"ERROR 2016-01-12 10:25:26,347 Can't remove C:\Users\pyro\Downloads\XMageLauncher-0.3.4.jar"

any suggestions please?

Maybe try moving the launcher to a extra directory "Xmage" that you create on your system.
Installing after that.

Not working for me. Windows 10. Java is verified latest version.

I open the file that was downloaded, "XMageLauncher-0.3.4.jar", with "java". A blank black command box appears for barely a split second, but nothing else happens.

Not sure if I downloaded this right. Got a rar with a bunch of files on there, went through all the folders, and none of the files had an actual launcher to start or install the game.

You need to execute the .jar file with Java.

I don't see a .jar file. Everything ends with .class or .properties.

You are actually looking inside the .jar currently. Get one folder up from where you are and run the .jar there.

First, just to cover every possibility, do you have Java installed? If you don't or are not sure go here: https://www.java.com/en/download/ You can both let it check if you have it and/or download it from there if you don't.

But I'll just assume you have it installed. If you go to http://xmage.de and click the download button you will get a file called XMageLauncher-0.3.4.jar. This is a jar file, not a rar, what might be happening is that you're opening it with your rar program (WinRar, 7-Zip, etc.) by default. Put the file in whatever folder you want to have XMage installed and then right-click it and select "open with" and from there find and select Java as the default program to open jar files with.

If you do have Java properly installed and select it right as the default program to open jar files with you should now see the launcher open.

If you still run into problems just post where exactly is it that you're stuck, what you did, what your operative system is, screenshots of the files and errors, etc. to give as much information as possible in one go.

Xmage refuses to download, I don't know if I missed something or something wasn't included in the download description. But everytime I download, it comes up as open file with the web browser and just goes and repeats it over and over again, never opening but just creating multiple files with the logo being the web browser logo.

I have done the java download, everything is up to date. I am wondering what is some step by step instructions to download this because nothing is explained on here. Thanks for all help, appreciate it.

What browser are you using? What operative system?

When you click the download button, if your browser comes up with the option to open the file there should also be one to save the file, which is what you want. You want to save the file (XMageLauncher-0.3.4.jar), then when it's done downloading get it to whatever folder you wish to have XMage be installed and open it with Java. If your computer is not opening jar files with Java by default then you need to change that by right-clicking it and going to "Open with" from the context menu.
