problem installing xmage
by zetetic » 21 Apr 2015, 17:37
Hi all. I'm having a problem installing Xmage. No matter what I do, the installation process ends with it saying "Xmage not found". I tried re-installing, and also pressing "update", and the same thing keeps happening.
Here is a screenshot:
Any help anyone could give would be very much appreciated. If this is the wrong sub-forum for this question, I apologize and will re-post it somewhere else if someone can tell me the correct place to ask this question.
Thanks.

Give please more information:
1) System OS and version?
2) Can you download XMage from the link mage-bundle-1.3.0.dev2015-03-14v8.zip?
3) Is it the first time you use the launcher or did it work before?
4) Which java version is installed? (java -version)
5) What's written in the xmage_launcher.log?

I see here two possible reasons for the problem.
1) You use the launcher in a directory where the user does not have full access to write / edit files.
2) You use the launcher in a directory that has some characters in the path (like blanks) that may cause problems.
But I guess 1) is more likely.
Try to move the launcher to another directory (maybe a directory xmage in the home directory of the user) and try again to install xmage with the launcher.

I updated the Launcher to version 0.33 it should automatically update the old launcher on start.
Please test if this solves your problems.
