Hi all--

I've been having issues connecting to any server with the latest update to the client. The client boots fine through the launcher, but when I try to connect it sits indefinitely without connecting, only ceasing when I hit cancel. Then, I have to force quit the client - attempting to quit through the "exit" button does nothing.

The issue is inconsistent as well. I had the issue when the update was first released, but had no issues connecting yesterday. Earlier today I connected just fine, but now I'm unable to.

At least I had no problems to connect to xmage.de or woogerworks.com now.
So it most probably has to be a problem of the connection on your system to the servers.

You can open a command window and test with:
tracert xmage.de
and
tracert woogerworks.com
if something is blocking your way to the systems.

Should for example look like this with different IPs during the route:

I have encountered the same issue as the original poster. Since the 0.3.3 launcher update was released, I can still connect to the German XMage server, but trying to connect to the USA woogerworks server simply causes the client to freeze and never connect to the server, sometimes displaying a "Ping failed" error message. I have run ping and tracert commands to the woogerworks server, and they manage to connect to the server just fine, which shows that it is unlikely to be an issue with my system or internet connection. I can also visit the woogerworks website on my web browser without issues, and the website says that their XMage server is online. However, no matter what I do, even if I roll back to the 0.3.1 version of the launcher, the XMage client no longer manages to connect to the woogerworks server anymore. I have also tried to run the XMage client through its .bat files instead of the launcher, but the problem is still there.

Experiencing the same problem - though here the client freezes and I can only close it through Task Manager.

That was caused by the XMage server itself. I restarted the server now so it should work again.

Unfortunately, I am still having the same issue. I have tried to completely delete and re-install XMage with the latest version of the launcher, but that didn't fix anything. I still cannot connect to the USA woogerworks server, with the same "Ping failed" message appearing sometimes.

Yeah, it stopped working now - this morning was just fine, but now I can't connect again.

I tried again to connect to the woogerworks server, and now it works. As LevelX mentioned in another thread, this seems to be an issue with the woogerworks server going down sporadically, and not with the XMage client itself.

I have been having the same issue. I tried the tracert to ping the server and it seemed to get through no problem. But when I try to connect within the client it just hangs at connecting and never connects. It actually hangs to the point that when I try to close the client it will not let me and I have to go to Task Manager and end the Java process (in windows of course), in order to close the program.

This also seems to happen at almost exactly 11pm EST every day, and then it will work again the next day. I am stumped as to what might be causing this as I know it has nothing to do with my PC or local ISP etc.

I had the same problem.
I started to use XMage months ago, then due to a PC issue I stayed offline for a month or so and now i cant play.
Yesterday it disconnected so many times during games, i didn't finish one match!
This early morning it was fine (be aware I'm +7 Hours) until now (almost 12Pm), it simply does not connected and the console panel says FATAL communication error,
I dont even get, i didnt change anything at all! im forcing updates but with no success.

What can i do?

Please check always against another server (e.g. xmage.de) if it's a problem on your side or the server itself is not healthy.
I guess in this case it was again the woogerworks server I restarted 3 hours ago.

Hi, now it is fine.
The thing is: I set it to automatically connect to the same server and when the problem occurs the XMage interface keeps loading and is UNquittable!
I know there's the error thanks to the console panel but the other window simply does not respond, I have to end it through the Ctrl+Alt+Canc command!

ByTheWay now it seems fine.

I take the chance to say that XMage is the best MTG program and I really appreciate all your efforts to keep it great, thanks.
