I can't get the client to launch from the launcher

Postby dan » 04 Sep 2015, 05:47

I am running XMage 1.4.3v3 (2015-08-21), launcher v0.3.4 on Mac OS X 10.6.8.

I ran it and it did the whole java download and installation and xmage setup. When I click on 'Launch Client,' it gives me an error message which I have attached a screenshot of. Can someone help me?

The newest version of the launcher has problems on some mac systems to install and run the java correctly.
There is a config with an older launcher and the new Xmage version.

To use this go to your launcher settings and change XMage Home to
http://xmage.de/xmage_mac

Update with the launcher and try again.
Please let me know if this helps you.

I changed the settings as you suggested and it "updated" to 1.4.3v2 (2015-08-19).
I hit launch and it gave me the same errors:

Sorry, I've just restarted it and it says it will now update the launcher now, rather than the client, so I'll wait and see what happens with that.

OK, it updated that to version 0.3.1 and said it needed to be restarted. When I restart it (still with the filename XMageLauncher-0.3.4.jar, there's no XMageLauncher-0.3.1.jar anywhere on my computer) it gets stuck before it loads or checks anything for a long time, then I get this again, along with a window that says there's a new version, would you like to update:

Yes, first you need to update the Launcher itself to the old launcher version.
After that it may be neccessary to delete the java and xmage subdirectory to reinstall with the launcher.

I guess third time's the charm, because the third time I tried to update it actually worked, and downloaded XMageLauncher-0.3.1.jar and deleted the other one. I now have the correct version of the launcher and client, but I still get the same error.

OK, I've deleted the xmage and java folders as well as the log and properties files. I changed the settings back to the mac url and now it's installing java again.

Hmm, it seems if you use OS X < 10.7+ you need to update for using java 7.x.
Found some hints about this in the net.
