If you have encountered any problems while using XMage 1.4.4 you can post them here.
Please mention who you were playing against: Human or the AI type.
Please describe how you got to that point. A screenshot of the battlefield at the moment something went wrong will be useful too. Otherwise, naming the cards that interacted will suffice. If you get an error log please add that too. Also often does a gamelog file from the mage-client/gamelogs/ folder help to reproduce the problem.



  1. Please use a separate post for each problem/bug.
  2. Don't report here problems concerning to install, start or connect xmage. Only game related problems of using xmage.

* Fixed a bug with removing spells from stack (e.g. Split Second had some problems).
* Fixed some dual lands from Scars of Mirrordin that did not come tapped into play with already 3 other controlled lands in play (Seachrome Coast, Blackleave Cliffs, Copperline Gorge and Razorverge Thicket).
* Fixed Heedless One and Reckless One to include non-creature permanents of appropriate subtype to their p/t count.
* Fixed some cards that care about subtypes to include non-creature cards of the subtype (e.g. Brightstone Ritual, Feeding Frenzy, Wirewood Lodge, ...).
* Fixed a problem that ability controller of replacement effects for cards entering the battlefield were not changed early enough (e.g. causing problem if putting Canopy Vista of opponent with Oblivion Sower onto th ebattlefield).

* Infinite Obliteration - Fixed that the cards from players library were not exiled (also realted to other cards that use that effect class).
* Karn Liberated - Fixed that commanders were not returned to command zone after game reset.
* Sapling of Colfenor - Fixed that the card did not stay on top of library if it was no creature card.
* Scrap Mastery - Fixed a bug that card movement caused an exception.
* Scroll Rack - Fixed that the cards were shown face down if setting the order they go to library.

Xmage 1.4.4v12A (2015-10-23) only installed on servers yet
* Fixed a bug for cards that choose a mode as entering the battlefield (e.g. Outpost Siege).
* Fixed a bug that the AI did not handle to target a card in its hand (e.g. Chrome Mox).
* Fixed that the exile and return effect of the flip planeswalker did not always work correctly.
* Fixed not working enters the battlefield effect of Lorwyn lands (tapped & 2 chanrge counters).


* Alesha, Who Smiles at Death - Fixed that the move card to battlefield worked not correctly.
* Enduring Scalelord - Fixed triggered ability not working for replcament effects adding counters to permenents entering the battlefield.

* Fixed a bug that caused creatures forced to attack could prevent to attack by deselecting the forced creature or be able to attack another defender by using the "Attack All" button.
* Fixed a bug that a commander on the stack could not be returned to command zone if an end turn effect resolved (e.g. from Sundial of the Infinite).
* Fixed some cards with "When a spell or ability an opponent controls causes you to discard" trigger (e.g. Guerrilla Tactics).

* Fixed a bug that if all targets (if targets were set) of a spell with an up to target definition (e.g. Adverse Conditions) became illegal the spell did not fizzle as it should.
* Fixed that the token image of Kithkin Solder was not shown (token was only named Kithkin instead of Kithkin Soldier).
* Cascade - Fixed that the remaining cards were not set to graveyard in a random order.

* Fixed that using a previous internal avatar ID did create an exception while playing/watching a game.
* Fixed a bug that effects forcing creatures to block an attacker forced also creatures of players not attacked (multiplayer games) to block, locking the game UI.

* Compost - Fixed that it triggered for all cards going to opponents graveyard (instead of only black cards).
* Maelstrom Nexus - Fixed that the compared casting cost was always 5 instead of the casting cost of the spell that got Cascade.

* Ninjutsu - Fixed that the selection of the unblocked attacker was not handled untargeted (so shroud on a creature did prevent to be able to select it).

* Combat - Fixed a bug that the game log showed block information of blocks that were undone.
* Fixed that a player doing a library search with a stated quality (701.15b) couldn't fail to find a card if cards with the stated quality did exist in the searched library.

* Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile - Fixed that the activated ability did also damage to creatures of the controller of Brigid.
* Flamerush Rider - Fixed that the token put onto the battlefield was not attacking and not tapped.
* Fluctuator - Fixed that it crashed the game if onto the battlefield and a card with cycling was on the hand of the controller.
* Gather the Pack - Fixed that the cards were not revealed.
* Hex Parasite - Fixed a bug that the boost was not always applied if only one counter was removed.
* Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient - Fixed that it also triggered if other players did activate abilities of artifacts.
* Mystic Enforcer - Fixed that it did not get Flying from the threshold ability.
* Scarscale Ritual - Fixed that the spell fizzled as the creature the -1/-1 counter was placed on died by the impact of the counter.
* Selkie Hedge-Mage - Fixed that the triggered abilities did not work.

Xmage 1.4.4v3 (2015-09-13)
* Suspend - Fixed that creatures coming into play with suspend didn't gain haste anymore.
* Fixed that state triggered abilities were not checked at the correct times.
* Fixed that for enchantments put into play (e.g. by Zur the Enchanter) that the selection of the enchanted permanent is not handled targeted.
* Fixed that activation of gained abilities of face down permanents (e.g. by Singing Bell Strike) did uninteded reveal the face down creature.
* Suspend, added the card name to the rule text of the ability triggering, so different suspended cards were not auto put on the stack by the activated same rule text option.
* Fixed that spells with targets cast without paying mana could simply be canceled by canceling the target selection (e.g. player was able to cancel a spell cast by suspend what's not allowed by the rules).
* Fixed put token into play thta's of copy of target effects to handle targets correctly that already copy something (e.g. Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker copying a Body Double creature).

* Infernal Scarring - Fixed that the "Dies" trigger did not work if the enchanted creature was sacrificed (e.g. using Nantuko Husk).
* Isochron Scepter - Fixed that not always the correct spell ability was cat for the imprinted card (e.g. overload ability for cards with overload).
* Llanowar Augur - Fixed that the target creature did not get Trample.
* Nath of the Gilt-Leaf - Fixed exception for triggered ability.
* Pestilence Demon - Fixed that some of the dealt damage was handled as comat damage.
* Pyxis of Pandemonium - Fixed that the names of the face down cards were shown in the game log while moving to exile.
* Shallow Grave - Fixed that the delayed triggered ability did also effect the target if it changed zone meanwhile.
* Starfield of Nyx - Fixed that the continuous effect's dependancy to continuousEffects that add subtype aura was not checked.
* Swiftfoot Boots - Fixed missing haste ability.

I was using Anafenza, the Foremost as Commander. She attacked and traded with two creatures. I moved Anafenza to the Command Zone, but the opponent's creatures "when {this} dies" abilities triggered. Since Anafenza and those creatures all received lethal damage at the same time, the creatures should have been exiled due to Anafenza's replacement effect, but I guess since the logic asks if you want to use the Command Zone replacement effect first, that it doesn't see her leaving the battlefield at the same time as the other creatures.

LevelX: I was not able to reproduce this problem.
Here's the test I defined:

Added game log, bug occurred in combat near the end. Omnath was opposing Commander creating the triggers. Dying creatures were elementals.

I blocked with Phyrexian Devourer. After blocks, I activated its exile the top card of your library ability until it had power of 9. It should have triggered to sacrifice then, but that didn't happen until after combat damage occurred.

I had a morph face down, Abomination of Gudul, and my opponent played Singing Bell Strike on it. When I paid the 6 mana to untap the face-down creature (from the Singing Bell Strike) it revealed the card to the opponent.

Flameshadow Conjuring (I assume this is the reason):

- Played a Wurmcoil Engine, copied it, sacrificed the copy, got four tokens.
- Played an Epochrasite, copied it, the token had no counters even though I didn't play it from my hand.

Whenever Daretti, Scrap Savant gets countered and i chose to put him into the command Zone, he gets put on the battlefield instead!

Isochron Scepter
-Used with any overload card it causes the copied spell to automatically cast with overload instead of it's regular cast. This is an alternate cost and should not be possible with Isochon Scepter.

I'm still running into a bug with cards like Ancient Stirring and Animist's Awakening that have you order cards put on the bottom of your library during resolution. It fills the screen with a vertical gray box that prevents me from making any actions. The only way I've found to deal with it is to close out of the program entirely. I've attached a screenshot.

I can no longer launch client the game froze and i had to quit, i don't know how to fix it i get this, and it says i can not extract java from my files.

Hi, I was playing with Jace, Vryn's Prodigy and when I've used is looting ability it doesn't allowed me to discard and immediatly rollbacked.

Before the new client version I always used Jace and never had any problem, so it must be something changed in the last updated version. Thank for you work!

Zur the Enchanter's ability + shroud

You can reproduce this by attacking with a Zur the Enchanter that has shroud (Lightning Greaves, Diplomatic Immunity, Greater Auramancy + an aura on him, etc.) and when his ability triggers searching for an aura (in this case, Empyrial Armor) and trying to attach it to Zur himself. The game won't allow you to attach it him, even though it should, since the enchantment is put onto the battlefield and not cast, hence, no targeting is done. The rulings page for Zur itself say it so on Gatherer:

7/15/2006 If you use Zur the Enchanter's triggered ability to search for an Aura, it will be put onto the battlefield attached to an appropriate permanent. It doesn't target that permanent. If no appropriate permanent exists for it to be attached to, that Aura can't be put onto the battlefield and stays in your library.


Shroud shouldn't stop Empyrial Armor from attaching to Zur, only something like protection from white, for example, would do that.

This was tested in a Commander game, and as it is it breaks a pretty common general from that format.

The card Raven's Crime seems to be not allowed in this version. Trying to join a Modern match with it in my deck, I get the error "Server error: Card not found - Raven's Crime - EVE for deck - null"

Same thing happens for MMA printing.

Suspended creatures (greater gargadon) do not enter to the battlefield from exile with haste...
They have sum. sickness.
