help connecting to localhost mage 0.8

Postby jmartus » 18 Oct 2011, 06:12

I can get version 0.75 to connect to localhost so i can play against the computer but 0.8 keeps giving me a error "Unable to connect to server. Error setting up client lease upon performing connect" I click on client then connect to localhost but keep getting a error and even double clicking the startServer. batch command in the server folder.

What does the status window of the server display? Also, make sure your proxy isn't set.

Do you see any error messages in the server console window? Also, try to connect using 127.0.0.1 for the server name.

If the server console window closes then there was an error while starting the server. Would you be able to attach the complete server.log file? Further down there must be an error message.

Thanks.

Re: help connecting to localhost mage 0.8

It's very strange that the server stops in the middle of loading plugins without any messages. I'll need to look into this a little further. The client error message however is exactly what I would expect to see if the server wasn't running.

Just to confirm that the plugins aren't corrupt could you delete all version 0.8 files and download the bundle again?

Thanks for being patient. I'll let you know if I discover anything on my end.

I got it to work I downloaded the daily respiratory version from yesterday and was able to open the batch file and now able to play vs computer with that version thanks :) I think what I was doing wrong was not leaving the batch file open and I believe my firewall was trying to block it but not sure.

to get a game setup against ai first you have to open mage-bundle-0.8.1\client double click mage-client-0.8.1 then open the server folder mage-bundle-0.8.1\server and open the batch program startServer. Once batch program startserver is open and kept open go back to client and connect to localhost and everything should work.

Double clicking the startServer.bat unfortunately leads to an error. The DOS box opens and says that it can't handle the "java" command (i've installed the newest version).
