Magarena 1.64

Text in the UI can now be translated into different languages. This release
includes the Portuguese translation. We need your help to translate the UI,
please read https://github.com/magarena/magarena/wi ... g-Magarena
In addition, 6 bugs were fixed and 86 cards (mostly from Magic Origins) were
added.

- refactor and update the UI to allow UI text to be translated to other languages

* condition: there are two or more instant and/or sorcery cards in your graveyard
* ability: renown <n>
* ability: When SN becomes renowned, <effect>
- fixed the following bugs:
* mechanism to prevent AI infinite play loop not working
* limit AI's maximum activation of specific abilities to prevent infinite play loop
* incorrect implementation of Madness could leads to a situation where
player is unable to complete payment of mana cost (issue #385)
* crash when opening deck builder with invalid deck (issue #403)
* Platinum Angel did not prevent "if you would lose" replacement effect from occuring (issue #404)
* Diffusion Sliver did not check that spell/ability is controlled by an opponent

Dear developers!
Thanks a lot for adding a possibility to write a translational files for Magarena. It is very useful for spreading the game. Please find below the Russian language translational file (checked).
However, there are some strings which are not included into the translational file.
1. About Magarena page.
2. In Card Explorer Types, Subtypes, Rarity and other heads of columns and its data
3. Names of colours. (e.g. in most used colour).
4. Word "Random" in Random deck. And other lines in Choose Deck menu.
5. Log and stack messages.
6. Declare attackers and blockers step text.
Also it is suggested to translate a glossary and add a possibility to choose card image downloading server to obtain translated card images.

Thanks, kannikkiy. Please can you confirm the russian for "Russian" which will be displayed at startup when selecting the language to use.

Thanks, that was what I was after. I have created a new translation file - Русский.txt - and added it to the GitHub repository (could you check that it looks ok) so that it now appears in the language selection screen at startup. It would be great if you could maintain this directly but if you would prefer to avoid GitHub then posting an updated file here with any new translations would be ok (if you could use the attachment option instead of copy/pasting that would be helpful, thanks).kannikkiy wrote:I understood. The glossary is in fact just a text file - keywords.txt - so if you want to translate it then it should be fairly easy to point to a language-specific version of the file.kannikkiy wrote:Also it is suggested to translate a glossary
It is a bit more complicated than that. As a first step I was considering updating the code to look for a <language> sub-folder in the images directories and if found then any images it contains take priority over the default (English) images. Having a look at magiccards.info they are thankfully well structured for other languages. Having an option on the downloads for different languages, and then a string replacement from the script file for "/en/" to the chosen language:

For some of the earlier sets this may not match as well due to some translations not existing (at a guess).
If a non-English language is chosen I would assume that also having an English version may not be required so could replace the English versions as the filenames will be the same.
(Also scaring me with the side-project of in-game created cards!)

About translated card images. Some time ago, when card images were downloaded from magiccards website it was very easy to obtain translated images. I wrote a program which replaces the prefix "/en/" in the script file on "/ru/" and start downloading images. And after that all images with the size equal to 0 bytes will be deleted. Obtained images were copied into the main folder with English text images. This algorithm is universal "/en/" can be replaced on other language prefix.

I did some tests the results of which can be found here. Not very good. I downloaded all Russian card images for version 1.64. It was 3935 cards from 14931. I think this is good result, because card translation is very long process and old cards are not translated now significantly. Even 25% of translated cards make the gameplay more convenient, in my opinion of course.Lodici wrote:I did some tests the results of which can be found here. Not very good. Yes, I eventually came to the same conclusion.
