[inadequate info]Life from the Loam
by Nexhro » 13 Sep 2014, 23:26
Describe the Bug:
Life from the Loam does't ask for targets and hence doesn't return anything from its controller's graveyard to his/her hand.
Which card did behave improperly ?
Life from the Loam
Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)
CoRM15, duel
What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
Life from the Loam asks for targets.
Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?

It asked or targets in a clean game, it just didn't return anything.

Here's another savegame where it does ask for targets and returns 1, 2 or 3 cards depending on choice... Not sure what makes it work or hinders it from working. Maybe it only works when there are exactly 3 lands in the gy?

Funny, I load your 2nd savegame and it doesn't let me target more than 1 card or return anything. I'm stumped.

Have you tried restarting the client? Or have I missed another hotfix?
In the first savegame Loam still doesn't ask me for targets and just goes to gy. Could be the land count in graveyard or, like so often when bugs occur and disappear between EDH games, a flag issue.

I had restarted the client. Try your second save again. And if you find a case where Life from the Loam works, try Regrowth and see if it works in that case. I'm punting this one to the devs.

For me in a clean game it worked fine even when dredged and then played still worked fine.
Edit: I tested your first savegame and I found the problem the graveyard has too many cards for Life from the Loam prompt to open it. I used Feldon's Cane to shuffle the graveyard into the library then I discarded land and Life from the Loam worked like a charm.

Huh, you're right. I never knew there was that limit. Do you know what the number is?

Well I could be wrong and the problem is a card in the graveyard.
I tried with 50 cards in graveyard (with the same savegame provided)and still there was a problem Life from the Loam went to graveyard right away.

EDIT: So don't tag it as not a bug to hear what our Devs have to say about it.

I've often had many cards in the graveyard in EDH decks that use Life from the Loam and the card has always worked fine, so I somehow doubt that this is due to some client-based card limit.
The graveyard viewer that is used for target selection is the same as the libraray viewer that is used for fetching. From my experience this means that the gy viewer can view any number of cards. You can try Eternal Witness or All Suns' Dawn in that savegame, which work (Dawn is bugged as for what it returns, though).

The save files are invalid, there isn't enough information to repro, and there's no revision for months in either direction from CoRM that builds.
