Describe the Bug:
When a ciphered copy of Hidden Strings or Stolen Identity is cast targetting one or more creatures with heroic, the heroic ability doesn't trigger

Which card did behave improperly ?
Creatures with heroic (haven't tried all, but most) OR Hidden Strings / Stolen Identity

Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)
BotG, Duel

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
When a ciphered copy of Hidden Strings or Stolen Identity is cast targetting one or more creatures with heroic, the heroic ability triggers.

Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?
Haven't tried those, but I'm suspecting spell copies cast via Isochron Scepter, Panoptic Mirror and the likes might also not trigger heroic.

Casting a spell via channel also doesn't trigger it.

Channel like Ghost-Lit Nourisher? That's an ability, not casting a spell.

I've spent a good 15 minutes reading the rules and I agree with what you just said (as to what the rule is) while disagreeing at the same time (as to what the rule should be). Isn't activating an ability when the card is in your hand equivalent to casting it with an alternative mana cost? You are removing it from where it was to the stack and paying its cost.

So while it is activating an ability, I can't see the difference between that and casting a spell. And of course the rules don't have a specific section for channel. Yet another example of WOC and their fine rule writing.

Rant over.
