[confirmed]Helm of Obedience & Blightsteel Colossus loop
Posted: 09 Jul 2014, 19:05
Describe the Bug:
With Rest in Peace in play, activating Helm of Obedience against an opponent with a Blightsteel Colossus in their library causes a (nearly) infinite loop. (Or Progenitus, Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, etc)
The problem is that two replacement effects are fighting for control of what happens to the Blightsteel (shuffle into library, and exile).
Currently, the Blightsteel shuffles over and over until you get a dump and an out of cards error and eventually you win. Is there a way to force the AI to exile it after a certain number of loops or anything? I would be nice to win against these decks without having to have the game almost crash.
Which card did behave improperly ?
Rest in Peace & Helm of Obedience & Blightsteel Colossus (and more creatures)
Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)
JiN v1
What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
Forced to exile (eventually).
Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?
Legacy Weapon
Progenitus
Darksteel Colossus
All the big Eldrazi
etc

The problem is that two replacement effects are fighting for control of what happens to the Blightsteel (shuffle into library, and exile).
Thus, the player who owns the Blightsteel Colossus is given a choice, and since the Helm of Obedience loop cannot be broken, they would eventually have to choose to exile the Blightsteel Colossus or lose the game since they cannot keep choosing to shuffle it over and over.616.1. If two or more replacement and/or prevention effects are attempting to modify the way an event affects an object or player, the affected object's controller (or its owner if it has no controller) or the affected player chooses one to apply, following the steps listed below. If two or more players have to make these choices at the same time, choices are made in APNAP order (see rule 101.4).
