Deck-Converter
by Jimmydiehand » 07 May 2013, 11:38
I wanted to use the forgedecks from this forum in MagicWorkstation and so made a Converter which is semi-working. In the long run I would like to be able to convert from and to as many different deckformats as possible.
/*Does anyone know of or has a list of the different deckformats out there? Then I could get some samples to work with.*/
Finally found a List that looks pretty complete from the mtgstudio feature list.
Deckformats I have no samples of:
⋅ MTG Online III (.dek)
⋅ MTG Online (.dec)
⋅ MTG Studio (.deck)
⋅ Online Play Table (.dck)
⋅ Wagic the Homebrew (.txt)
⋅ Shandalar - Duels of the Planeswalkers (.dck)
⋅ Mana Link 2.0 and 3.0 (.dck)
⋅ Forge (.dck)
⋅ Mana Deck (.dck)
⋅ Magic Suitcase (.mdb)
⋅ MTG Interactive Encyclopedia (.xml)
⋅ OCTGN, MTG Play (.xml)
⋅ MTG Studio (.tinydeck)
⋅ Magic Library (.dec)
Deckformats I have allready samples of:
⋅ Forge (.dck)
⋅ Apprentice (.dec)
⋅ Magic Workstation (.mwDeck)
⋅ MTG Online (.txt)
If someone could provide samples for some of the fileformats, it would be pretty helpful.
I will try to support Forge, Apprentice, Magic Workstation and MTG Online in my first release. The other deckformats don't seem to be widely used so I will probably only add them if someone asks.
As I have just started programming for fun and am new to java and programming itself, updates could be slow. so be aware.
Features that I would like to implement in the future:
-Integrated deck database
-Batch Import and Export
-Editor to conveniently add comments like deckname, tournament, placement, Author and the like which then can be written in the exported files. There doesn't seem to be any kind of standard in this regard and most of the time there is no info in the deck itself and you can only get the Name of the deck from the filename.
-automatic file format detection where possible
I hope I can do a first release in the next few days with batch convert between the major formats.

I was wondering if anything ever came of this. I am extremely interested as I use a lot of different MTG programs for various reasons and features.

So it's been seven years and this is the closest thing I found to a .dck -> .dec converter. Are there any updates?
