[fixed/closed]Omniscience - Only elimates colored mana cc
by drool66 » 15 May 2015, 02:22
Describe the Bug:
Casting a spell with Omniscience in play only eliminates the colored portion of the casting cost. The player still has to pay all colorless portions of the casting cost.
Hybrid mana costs now seem to work fine with Omniscience, whereas they were not before - thank you! (Although this is not the case with cards with costs like Beseech the Queen & Reaper King, perhaps due to the bug presented here.)
Which card did behave improperly ?
Omniscience
Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)
Manalink 2015/3/25: Fate Reforged,duel
What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
You may cast spells from your hand for free, regardless of mana called for in the casting cost.
Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?
I don't believe so - all other "cast for free" effects I can think of are one-shot or "until end of turn" (eg. Narset, Enlightened Master), and most likely use different scripts. These seem to be working fine in this regard.

The latest images for Manalink will be here.
The latest Manalink installation directory will be here. Well, not quite, anymore. Check the latest patches.

Also, since it is a 'may' effect you should still be able to cast spells for their cc.
Working on: housekeeping and archived reports

I changed the implementation of Omniscience to something similar to Vedalken Orrery (now is activable) on ac63808
It will remain "active" by default for the computing of CMC by other cards.

The suggestion here might be relevant (and thought I'd already linked to it from here; obviously not). It would've been my first impulse too.
