Magic Album - Program Bugs
Updater error when in the background (fix completed)
edforth wrote:After much testing, it seems that the updater will fully install from any install zip or an empty directory as long as the program never loses focus.
If the updater is in the background or minimized then it may stop updating. Always in a different spot according to updater.log but always giving "Download error 42"
All of this was done with the current updater (r142)

Unfortunately I can't reproduce a bug (just downloaded full MA with minimized updater), but I've tried to fix the possible problem in r150. Edforth, please test it and report if the bug still exists.

draytalon wrote:I started up my magic album to continue inserting my decks and inventory, as i did this it told me that there was an update, so i went ahead and clicked yes to update. It started to update then stopped with 'Cannot connect to the server' error, no problem i thought, so i restarted MA, but it will not open, still i thought no problem, i came to the main download page and downloaded the updater manually, started it again, and still got the same error. I saved my inventory database and deck files, deleted everything to do with MA and downloaded the updater again, again i keep getting the error. Here is the read me error file if this helps........

Got it Goblin Hero, thanks for the update.
Downloaded the updater again, it told me it was r197, but once it got going it updated the updater to r209, it then started to install, but it kept returning an error, this time it was 'error 18'. So i just kept hitting install every time i got the error, FYI, it actually told me that the file could not be downloaded. But after hitting update about 20 times, it finally installed. I have not tried it out yet, will do later this evening when the kids are sleeping, i will report back one way or another to let you know the outcome. On another note, this is just something that is minor, but when i hit the update prices, i do all the sites that's in the price updater, but i still have thousands of cards in the data base that do not get priced, is there a script out there to attach to MA with all prices that can be updated via these sites, or is it just too big and complicated to implement.
Regards

Good, error 18 is another thing. Do you use proxies? I will try to update curl library (which handles downloads) to the latest version.
There's a topic in the forum with price scripts. But it's not perfect and not updated regularly. But it's the best we have. Want more? Learn lua and write your own scripts

Nice, i can learn LUA and do the scripts, then post them on here. I do use proxies when i build decks to play test them, if they work i buy the card, but the proxies and decks are not included into MA until properly finished and play tested.
MA as far as i can tell has not encountered any issue's since i re-installed it, so i can gratefully say everything is running smooth (fingers crossed).
Thanks for the help and info on the LUA idea, will look into it and see what i can do....
