Shandalar - Program Bugs
Sudden Strength missplays (will not fix)
Sudden Strength - it could be standard cantrip incompetence, or it might be something with the individual card as it's weirder than usual.
I've seen the AI cast Sudden Strength at senseless times (like his EoT) several times, noted it and moved on as it's standard nonsense that's just going to happen until cantrips finally get their own specific AI somehow. It wanted to draw a card, hur-dur...
However, then it got something bizzare which might have something to do with the individual card or something completely unrelated.
The AI had Bear Cub in play. I had Spreading Seas on one of his lands, a Hammerhead Shark , Coral Barrier and a Squid token. He cast Sudden Strength on the Bear Cub in his own EoT, without attacking, and drew into another Bear Cub.
So what happened there was:
- If it couldn't cast Sudden Strength on defense, it wasn't going to block. Bear Cub would just die to the shark, the squid has landwalk, and the wall can't attack.
- If it wasn't going to block, which it wasn't, it could've attacked. If it attacked and cast Sudden Strength I couldn't possibly kill the Bear Cub. So if I block I lose 2 guys, if I don't block I take 5 to the head and nothing changes for the AI.
- If it wanted to block, the only way it could do it wihtout losing the cub is if it saves Sudden Strength for defense. Which it didn't.
So wth? It could have attacked and cast the pump when blocked, attacked and cast the pump if it went through to draw and do damage, or saved the pump to block. And it could, apparently, choose to tap all it's mana, draw a card, not kill anything and do no damage which is strictly worse than any of the other options.
Something with Sudden Strength and when it can be played? Not being able to differentiate it's EoT phase from it's opponents EoT phase?
