Shandalar - Program Bugs

Fetterqeist alone if select no pay, gets sacrificed (not a bug)

I had Fetterqeist in play and no other creatures. At the beginning of my upkeep I was prompt if I wanted to pay or not.I selected not and my Fetterqeist was sacrificed. Is this correct? as it mentions "sacrifice Fettergeist unless you pay 1 for each other creature you control" and I didn't have any other creatures to need to pay for.Or a bug as I think it is.

I think it shouldn't even prompt to pay cost if it is the only creature you have.

It's legal to decline to pay a cost of {0}.

117.5. Some costs are represented by {0}, or are reduced to {0}. The action necessary for a player to pay such a cost is the player's acknowledgment that he or she is paying it. Even though such a cost requires no resources, it's not automatically paid.

And it's correctly charging me nothing if I choose to pay the upkeep.

Yes,I know it is legal but is it correct for Fetterqeist to get sacrificed if I choose legally not to pay since I have to pay only for other creatures which I don't have? I am just saying that it seems to me that no matter what I choose, 1- no pay or 2- pay 1 or 3- choose to pay but decline then to pay Fetterqeist shouldn't get sacrificed.
The rule you quote doesn't mention anything about that.

Yes, it's correct. "At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice Fettergeist unless you pay [some cost]." If you control no other creatures, that cost is {0}. It's legal not to pay that cost, and since you then didn't pay the cost, it gets sacrificed.

That said, it's broken in SA now that it's using the stack-trigger-optional-mana function, which - if you've flagged the card neither to automatically accept nor decline optional triggers - simply charges the mana, without drawing any automatically from your pool. Like Power Sink with X=0 or casting a zero-cost spell with a Cephalid Shrine on the bf, it's now an actual bug that you don't get to decline those costs. (Though it's a lot easier to come up with situations where you'd want to do so with Fettergeist's upkeep compared to letting your spell get countered.)
