Aether Hub can't tap for colorless in main phases (unreproducible)
Aether Hub with no energy counter can't be tapped for mana not with auto tap nor manually.It can't by tapped in advance to cast the spell nor when you are prompt to do that.Engine calculates it though to produce mana.It is not highlighted either.
I tapped it in opponent's turn 2 times though it was not highlighted either as active.
