Discourage AI from casting Giant Growth etc on unblocked creatures (duplicate)
The AI seems crazy about using, say, Giant Growth above everything else if
it has one in hand. It's easy to spot if it has one, because it otherwise
doesn't really attempt to attack into trades very often. However, if you
spot it and don't block into the Giant Growth it will still use the Giant
Growth to deal damage anyway. A human player very likely wouldn't cast the
giant growth then, but keep it around for the next attack.
Would it be possible to have the AI only cast a pump spell if it's for
lethal damage somehow? So that if the creature is unblocked it still has
Giant Growth for defense or pressure next turn? Or cast it only if casting
all the pump in hand would add up to lethal?

I'm not going to outright forbid the AI from making any legal play, nor force it to make optional choices. That sort of works in the short term, if you do it for every single card, but it cripples the AI in the long term, and - since it's in every single card - it's very difficult to back out of. To that extent, this is a will-not-fix.
The real solution here is the same as for discouraging the AI from casting Lightning Bolt on you instead of your creatures: the AI values life somewhat too highly - 12 units per point of life above 25, more for under, ranging up to 24 for the first point above 1 - and instants and sorceries in its hand far too lowly - 12, 24, 36, or 48, depending on their rarity. The AI would almost still Giant Growth its unblocked creature even if it just gave +1/+0 and you had a thousand life. (Almost, since tapped lands are valued lower than untapped ones - usually just by 1 unit, though.)
To that extent, this is mostly a duplicate of #1246: External configurations for card evaluation, at least until that's in and I get playtesting feedback using different values. If that doesn't make it into the next major version, I'll at least bump up the valuation for instants and sorceries, since they seem to be the furthest off-kilter, to something on the order of 40/48/56/64.
