using modders cards to make a deck.
by Kaisash » 24 Mar 2013, 19:41
Is there a program, or a Noob guide for this?
I want to make my own deck with cards that others have already made. I was just wondering if there is a program to do this? maybe even a program just to open the deck's files and extract coding I need?
thanks for reading, and any responses.

Did you try my tutorial (linked in my signature)? As long as you keep the mods installed you can make a deck with their cards just by inserting the cards' filenames in the deck's XML as I explain in the tutorial. Nothing else is needed.
If you have a doubt don't hesitate to ask, maybe it will be useful for adding details in the tutorial that I didn't think about.

Hi, im new here. I have a related question.
Does anyone have a full list of the modders (the "official" ones) cards? Found a list of the original cards but most cards I wanted to use in my custom decks where created from modders.
Bit of a pain for me to extract each deck, especially since most use a number instead of the deck name in the .wad (why?)

In most cases you don't need to extract each deck. Many modders (me included) keep all the cards in a single WAD and the decks are aside.shamaatae wrote:Bit of a pain for me to extract each deck
Do you need my cards? Extract Deck_1999_Core only.
Do you need RiiakShiNal's cards? Extract Data_DLC_8192 only.
Do you need kevlahnota's cards? Extract DATA_DLC_0999 only.
It's not so painful, is it?

Okay so i only extract the core decks, thanks for the tip!
Think my Dotp directory needs cleanup anyway since there are too many decks to choose from if you install all the mods thanks to you guys

Another noob question:
How do I add cards downloaded from the "card request"-thread to my decks?
do I have to add it to the game somehow or do i just add it and pack?
and then the code for the card will be in my deck and not in a core file?
but can still be used in other decks? without adding more than the name of the card or do i have to add the .xml file to all decks using the card?
Sorry for so many questions.

Add the card to the CARDS folder of your custom WAD (and the picture to the ILLUSTRATIONS folder, if included), that's all.shamaatae wrote:How do I add cards downloaded from the "card request"-thread to my decks?

Each WAD "sees" each other, so there's no need to repeat any card in other WADs.shamaatae wrote:and then the code for the card will be in my deck and not in a core file?

You could ask why the official decks repeat each card where it's needed... I guess it was better for the developers to make each deck so that it was totally independent, but I don't know the real reason.

are there any rules for the image file? (didnt seem to be included)
also I have to point out to others searching for the same answers that almost all cards I wanted was in the deck_0623_st.wad file.
