Help! I can't see modded decks
by Parth37955 » 15 Mar 2015, 15:29
So I recently installed dotp 2014 via steam. I, then, downloaded a bunch of mods of Xander's community wad topic, copied my magic folder and dumped them all in the copy. I downloaded all the RSN stuff and try to play the game. I don't see the mod decks. I then learn that I need to add d3dx9_43 to the folder in order to use the mods. I download it and add it to my folder. I then try to play the game, but I still can't find the modded decks. Is there something I'm missing?

It's not necessarily any d3dx9_43.dll it needs to specifically be the patcher dll from Rick (a.k.a. gibbed).
Without that no mods will load.

thats the one I downloaded. was I supposed to put it somewhere specific or just dump it into the folder? I'm not exactly sure what a root is btw...I'm kind of a noob.

Root is like the root of a tree. It's the basis upon which the rest of the tree (the tree being your folder structure) is built. It's the main folder with all the other relevant folders. Root is often used to refer to the actual hard drive (as in, the root of most computers is C:\, the uppermost folder possible). In this case, it's the game-folder, since that's the main folder with all the other relevant folders inside of it.
TL;DR: Put the dll in the same folder as your game file: DotP_D14.exe
EDIT: Did you actually download any decks? The Community Wad doesn't come with any. To get decks made to work with the community wad, see here: viewtopic.php?f=109&t=16703

ohh. I see. Let me try that.
Edit 1: it didn't work. Here's what I did to test it. I have DATA DLC CW THEROS and Data Decks 100006 HEROES OF THEROS in the same folder. I have DATA DLC COMMUNITY CORE as well. when I boot the game, I still can't find theros.

Decks require one other file to run, and that one is dependent on the deck. That file is the content pack enabler. Each deck requires one, but many decks will share the same enabler. In the decks folder, you'll find all of the content pack enablers for all of the decks. Your best bet is to simply get all of them. There is nothing wrong with having the enablers for decks you don't have. You can tell which one you need by looking at the numbers in the deck. The deck you have has the number 100006. The content pack enablers available are for numbers 147, 317, 809, 1000, 1947, 9009, and 999000. Yours starts with 1000, so that's the specific one you need, but just grab all of them and you should be fine. (If there's a downside to having the enablers that I don't know about, Riiak will probably let you know.)
The enablers are called "Data_DLC_1000_Content_Pack_Enabler.wad" and the like. They're all grouped together when sorted by name (with Riiak's Manual Mana wad in the middle of them by chance).

thank you. where can I find these enablers? I think I read something about it being related to Riiak's deck builder. Sorry for all the question btw.

From my last post:
And it's alright. Once you get the hang of it, it'll be pretty easy.
The same folder where you got the decks from.Xander9009 wrote:In the decks folder, you'll find all of the content pack enablers for all of the decks.

The only downside to the CPEs is that if you have 2 or more that enable the same Id Block you will get duplicates of all decks in that block (1 copy for each enabler for that block). Hence why most of the enablers have the block Id in the file name so that we don't have repeated enablers (and why we don't embed the enablers into the decks themselves).
In some respects the CPEs are related to the Deck Builder in that the Deck Builder generates the one for the currently set Block Id when you export a deck (so that it will properly show up in game). The actual structure of the CPEs is due to what is required from DotP's side which Rick pointed out for us (allowing us to have more than 10 automatically unlocked decks by putting the decks into their own "expansions" as defined by the Block Id).

I have the same problem. I am from Ukraine, forgive forgiveness for translation. There are decks wad files from 100006 to 100092, as well as content razblokirovschik, but when I insert the file d3dx9_43, I've got the game crashes and writes an error dump. I'm new to this, you are more experienced, and would be very grateful if you help me to cope in this case. Help me please. Write detailed instructions where to download these files, and how to put them.

If your game crashes when you put in the wad check disabler (d3dx9_43.dll) then that likely means you are missing at least one of the cards from the decks you have installed (you didn't put in all the dependencies). The most common dependency now is the Community Wad, if you haven't installed it then you will crash when you try to use decks that depend on it.
You can also use the Deck Builder to see what specific errors you have in your setup. It will tell you about every card that is needed yet missing and if there are cards with mismatched names.

Highly respect RiiakShiNal. Thank you for your help. Now I know how to insert files with decks, and how to check them. Thank you so much. If you have suggested or indicated where you can download decks from 2010 magic for magic in 2014, I just would cry with happiness, for a very long time looking for them, but No results. I beg your help please, all you can and even more. Looking forward to your reply

I haven't really kept up with all of the decks that have been created for DotP 2014, though I know at one point GrovyleXShinyCelebi made some of the older decks for DotP 2014 (though his mod is probably out of date now). With the Deck Lists, Community Wad, and the Deck Builder you could probably make most if not all of the decks from DotP 2010 fairly quickly without resorting to out of date mods since most if not all of the cards probably exist in the Community Wad (so all you would really have to do would be add the cards in the Deck Builder and fill out the Deck & AI Personality Information then save, in case you need to edit it later, and export).
