It's a part of my DLC, but it does present some issues due to how the Dotp engine treats mana abilities. Occasionally you can run into issues with being able to cast spells without tapping any mana, etc.

I've done some tweaking here and there, but it's just one of those things.

Doesn't seem to work. I sacrifice it but it won't let me look at a player's library.

The error message says

Not only will the kind of card it is cause problems, but Research won't work at all. There's nothing it can do, because there's nothing to cast. The only cards that you're allowed to target are the ones from your collection and sideboard. There's no way to do it. It could be semi-coded with a set list of 15 cards which could be checked for copies in the deck (and not allowing more than 4 copies total), but to get anywhere close to being correct, no, it's not possible.

Development, of course, would be quite simple.

To the coders: If someone decided to approximate this, what would be the downside to coding a dual-spell card as a dual-mode spell card instead?

Unfortunately is not possible to code full working Split-Cards. The engine doesn't support 2 different sets of characteristics(like mana cost) for one card.

I touught the same but there are some issues we cannot resolve :

708.2. In every zone except the stack, split cards have two sets of characteristics and two converted mana costs. As long as a split card is a spell on the stack and wasn’t cast using fuse (see rule 702.101, “Fuse”), only the characteristics of the half being cast exist. The other half’s characteristics are treated as though they didn’t exist. A split card that’s a spell on the stack and was cast using fuse has two sets of characteristics and one converted mana cost. Its converted mana cost is equal to the total amount of mana in its two mana costs, regardless of color.

If we use a token token to generate the right spell to cast the problem is when we have to consider the card inside the other zone we can only have 1 mana cost(Cost Spell A, Cost Spell B or Cost SpellaA+B).The same problem is about colours and other characteristics.

So we cannot make it compliant to rules like :
708.5. Anything that asks for a particular characteristic of a split card while it’s in a zone other than the stack gets two answers (one for each of the split card’s two halves). Anything that asks for a particular characteristic of a fused split spell gets two answers. Anything that asks for a particular characteristic of a split card while it’s a spell on the stack or that asks for the converted mana cost of a fused split spell gets one answer.

Dang. It was worth a shot. I can only think of one way to make that work, then, and it would involve writing a function for every functions that would need modified which would properly handle the split cards, then replace every instance of the original functions. So much more work than they're worth. They're interesting, but not THAT interesting.
