Milling deck

Postby Aalnius » 31 Aug 2013, 13:25

hi i'm new to all this modding stuff and i'm pretty bad at the whole deck building thing so i was wondering if someone could build me a milling deck (deck made to send enemies cards to graveyard or exile them from deck) as i really enjoy playing with them and magic 2014 doesn't have one and the only one that is sort of like it doesn't really do it for me.

also i don't want the deck to have made up cards that are ridiculously overpowered i'd prefer it if it was only cards that actually exist in MTG.

i have the deck builder program and gibbed tools.

Sumomole made a nice one called Turbogrind.

However I have made two. I am not a member of any file sharing site (maybe will join later, so I will upload the decklist)

Land Mill 2

| Open
This is the complete card listing for the deck:
1x - Ancestral Recall (ANCESTRAL_RECALL_628488)
2x - Crawlspace (CRAWLSPACE_357868)
2x - Divination (DIVINATION_350220)
4x - Gush (GUSH_628507)
4x - Hedron Crab (HEDRON_CRAB_627032)
2x - Howling Mine (HOWLING_MINE_888129598)
4x - Mind Sculpt (MIND_SCULPT_266487)
4x - Mana Drain (MM_MANA_DRAIN_628970)
3x - Oboro Envoy (OBORO_ENVOY_199074211)
3x - Phantasmal Image (PHANTASMAL_IMAGE_337949)
3x - Plumeveil (PLUMEVEIL_627001)
4x - Thought Scour (THOUGHT_SCOUR_337904)
1x - Time Walk (TIME_WALK_628490)
4x - Unsummon (UNSUMMON_350224)

This is the complete card listing for the regular unlocks:
1x - Keening Stone (KEENING_STONE_193441)
1x - Increasing Confusion (INCREASING_CONFUSION_262856)
1x - Increasing Confusion (INCREASING_CONFUSION_262856)

This Wad depends on these wads to be installed for the cards used in this deck:
DATA_CORE_972 (Drleg3nd mods)
DATA_DECKS_50000 (nostalgia pack by GrovyleXShinyCelebi )
DATA_DECKS_D14 (comes with the game)
DATA_DLC_KEV (Kevlahnota wads )
DATA_DLC_S62 (sumomole mods)
DATA_DLC_TFM_CARDS (the firemind mods)

So basically

the Firemind's mods viewtopic.php?f=109&t=11005
Sumomole mods viewtopic.php?f=109&t=10914
Kevlahnota wads http://www.mediafire.com/download/64aww ... V_v1.5.rar
GrovyleXShinyCelebi mods viewtopic.php?f=109&t=11113
DrLeg3nd mods viewtopic.php?f=109&t=11030

For Land mill 2 its a challenging deck to play but surprisingly powerful. Basically you rely on the power of the Hedron crab (opponent is milled 3 cards every time you put a land into play) with Mind Sculpt and Thought Scour. Use Phantasmal Image to copy a crab for more milling power or if you need to copy one of their creatures. Use Gush not just for its card drawing ability, but you can return lands instead of playing its casting cost. This flexibility allows you to play the land again next turn to trigger Hedron Crab's milling ability.

2x - Damnation (DAMNATION_888276893)

4x - Fog Bank (FOG_BANK_369525)

1x - Grafdigger’s Cage (GRAFDIGGERS_CAGE_628041)
1x - Jace’s Phantasm (JACES_PHANTASM_337910)
1x - Jace’s Phantasm (JACES_PHANTASM_337910)

This Wad depends on these wads to be installed for the cards used in this deck:
DATA_CORE_972
DATA_DECKS_D14
DATA_DLC_CARDS_1404 (scion of Darkness wads)
DATA_DLC_DotP2013 (reconstruction of decks from previous years)
DATA_DLC_GIFT (my cards, created for me by others or by myself, not found in other wads I downloaded)
DATA_DLC_KEV
DATA_DLC_PLW (Planeswalkers enabled mods)
DATA_DLC_S62
DATA_DLC_TFM_CARDS

Scion of Darkness viewtopic.php?f=109&t=10917
DotP2013 viewtopic.php?f=109&t=11066 (which also contains a milling deck from last year - Dream Puppets)
Planeswalkers enabled mods viewtopic.php?f=109&t=11615

Unfortunately you will require my mods DATA_DLC_GIFT (which contains Glimpse the Unthinkable), however I have the code for it.

This deck is more straight forward and is less difficult in a way. Glimpse the Unthinkable, Mind Sculpt and Mind Funeral for the win. Use Damnation as a sweeper spell in case they get too numerous. Dimir Doppleganger is a pretty neat card for defense and offense. Use cheap Fog Bank for defense as they don't take combat damage and they fly.

What is fun, is to use two headed giant mode and arm your team mate with one of these decks while you take the other one. Preferably the Mind Mill deck as the AI doesn't seem to know how to maximise land mill 2 deck. If you use both decks and target one player, it can be devastating winning the game quickly.

Hey, welcome to Duels 2014 modding!

If you're interested in coding cards I strongly recommend checking out the programming subforum here, there are alot of skilled programmers familiar with .lua willing to help you if you're stuck on a card or something like that.

viewforum.php?f=63

Otherwise, if you need a specific mill deck just tell me what cards do you want exactly and I'd be happy to make it for you. I generally stay away from dual lands/shocklands/mana pool or planeswalkers, as neither are supported by DotP 2014's engine and the workarounds tend to have nasty side effects, but otherwise I'm pretty used to how to make custom cards in this game.

Use Riiak's deck builder. It makes it easy for people like me without a programming background to create our own decks.
