mr friendly guy's decks

Postby mr friendly guy » 03 Sep 2013, 13:19

Ok, because people asked for Milling decks and Door to nothingness decks I have decided to share my decks since I already created 2 milling decks and am currently play testing a Door to Nothingness deck.

My decks. Please note

1. They are created with Riiak’s deck builder, so the listing is from 100000. If it clashes with your own decks just renumber it.

2. The card art for the box isn’t necessarily from an MTG card. I sometimes loaded whatever took my fancy, especially when play testing it, it made it easy to find when you have almost 100 decks in your modification. Of course with Riiak’s deck builder you can change the art as you see fit.

3. I have combined them all into a single rar file for convenience, including my core wad (which contains cards not found in the other wads which are required for the Mind Mill and Mathemagic and Into the Void deck). When it downloads, you can see the individual WADs with the name for the deck, so just copy the ones you want to play with. Obviously if you want to play with Mind Mill and Mathemagic, you will need the my core wad which is DATA_DLC_GIFT

4. It requires the following mods from other users. Note not all decks require all mods, and I have included a text file which tells you which ones it needs.
DATA_CORE_972 (bloodreyvn- viewtopic.php?f=109&t=11060
DATA_DECKS_50000 (nostalgia pack by GrovyleXShinyCelebi - viewtopic.php?f=109&t=11113

Always a good idea to get Riiak’s fixes and mods

1. Land Mill 2

| Open
This is the complete card listing for the deck:
1x - Ancestral Recall (ANCESTRAL_RECALL_628488)
2x - Crawlspace (CRAWLSPACE_357868)
2x - Divination (DIVINATION_350220)
4x - Gush (GUSH_628507)
4x - Hedron Crab (HEDRON_CRAB_627032)
2x - Howling Mine (HOWLING_MINE_888129598)
4x - Mind Sculpt (MIND_SCULPT_266487)
4x - Mana Drain (MM_MANA_DRAIN_628970)
3x - Oboro Envoy (OBORO_ENVOY_199074211)
3x - Phantasmal Image (PHANTASMAL_IMAGE_337949)
3x - Plumeveil (PLUMEVEIL_627001)
4x - Thought Scour (THOUGHT_SCOUR_337904)
1x - Time Walk (TIME_WALK_628490)
4x - Unsummon (UNSUMMON_350224)

This is the complete card listing for the regular unlocks:
1x - Keening Stone (KEENING_STONE_193441)
1x - Increasing Confusion (INCREASING_CONFUSION_262856)
1x - Increasing Confusion (INCREASING_CONFUSION_262856)

For Land mill 2 its a challenging deck to play but surprisingly powerful. Basically you rely on the power of the Hedron crab (opponent is milled 3 cards every time you put a land into play) with Mind Sculpt and Thought Scour. Use Phantasmal Image to copy a crab for more milling power or if you need to copy one of their creatures. Use Gush not just for its card drawing ability, but you can return lands instead of playing its casting cost. This flexibility allows you to play the land again next turn to trigger Hedron Crab's milling ability.

2. Mind Mill

| Open
This is the complete card listing for the deck:
1x - Ambassador Laquatus (AMBASSADOR_LAQUATUS_129913)
1x - Dimir Doppelganger (DIMIR_DOPPELGANGER_199083850)
2x - Divination (DIVINATION_350220)
4x - Glimpse the Unthinkable (GLIMPSE_THE_UNTHINKABLE_83597)
2x - Howling Mine (HOWLING_MINE_276817)
4x - Mana Drain (MANA_DRAIN_14040147)
4x - Mind Funeral (MIND_FUNERAL_370509)
4x - Mind Sculpt (MIND_SCULPT_628592)
3x - Unsummon (UNSUMMON_350224)
1x - Jace Beleren (JACE_BELEREN_991205960)
2x - Damnation (DAMNATION_888276893)
3x - Alloy Myr (ALLOY_MYR_214344)
4x - Fog Bank (FOG_BANK_369525)
2x - Vampire Nighthawk (VAMPIRE_NIGHTHAWK_369527)

This is the complete card listing for the regular unlocks:
1x - Underground Sea (MM_UNDERGROUND_SEA_628981)
1x - Underground Sea (MM_UNDERGROUND_SEA_628981)
1x - Underground Sea (MM_UNDERGROUND_SEA_628981)
1x - Underground Sea (MM_UNDERGROUND_SEA_628981)
1x - Jace Beleren (JACE_BELEREN_991205960)
1x - Grafdigger’s Cage (GRAFDIGGERS_CAGE_628041)
1x - Jace’s Phantasm (JACES_PHANTASM_337910)
1x - Jace’s Phantasm (JACES_PHANTASM_337910)

This deck is more straight forward and is less difficult in a way. Glimpse the Unthinkable, Mind Sculpt and Mind Funeral for the win. Use Damnation as a sweeper spell in case they get too numerous. Dimir Doppleganger is a pretty neat card for defense and offense. Use cheap Fog Bank for defense as they don't take combat damage and they fly.

What is fun, is to use two headed giant mode and arm your team mate with one of these decks while you take the other one. Preferably the Mind Mill deck as the AI doesn't seem to know how to maximise land mill 2 deck. If you use both decks and target one player, it can be devastating winning the game quickly.
Now we move onto white decks.

3. Holy Grail
| Open
This is the complete card listing for the deck:
4x - Ajani’s Pridemate (AJANIS_PRIDEMATE_199277082)

1x - Archangel of Thune (ARCHANGEL_OF_THUNE_345254)
2x - Auriok Champion (AURIOK_CHAMPION_88810750)
1x - Baneslayer Angel (BANESLAYER_ANGEL_348892)
1x - Blind Obedience (BLIND_OBEDIENCE_628064)
4x - Chalice of Life (CHALICE_OF_LIFE_199226735)
2x - Dawn Elemental (DAWN_ELEMENTAL_350072)
2x - Day of Judgment (DAY_OF_JUDGMENT_357756)
1x - Elixir of Immortality (ELIXIR_OF_IMMORTALITY_345336)
1x - Healer of the Pride (HEALER_OF_THE_PRIDE_337950)
1x - Pariah (PARIAH_350481)
4x - Path to Exile (PATH_TO_EXILE_337834)
1x - Renewed Faith (RENEWED_FAITH_888041153)
3x - Seraph of Dawn (SERAPH_OF_DAWN_350079)
4x - Soul’s Attendant (SOULS_ATTENDANT_88817442)
2x - Wall of Reverence (WALL_OF_REVERENCE_199280295)

This is the complete card listing for the regular unlocks:
1x - Howling Mine (HOWLING_MINE_888129598)

The strategy behind this life gain deck is to gain life until you have 30. Then you can transform chalice of life into chalice of death. Once transform, instead of tapping to gain one life, you tap to do five damage to your opponent. This isn’t the only way to win, as you have plenty of ways to pump up your creatures to do damage.
You have plenty of life gainers including soul’s attendant, Auriok Champion. A great combo is using Wall of Reverence to gain life equal to power of target creature, select Ajani’s Pridemate, with the gain in life pumping him up even further, and then doing the same combo again next round for even greater life gain. Also throw in Archangel of Thune and your creatures get pumped up even more.

4. Burn burn burn
| Open
This is the complete card listing for the deck:
1x - Banefire (BANEFIRE_350480)
3x - Browbeat (BROWBEAT_349096)
4x - Chain Lightning (CHAIN_LIGHTNING_LEGACY)
1x - Chandra, the Firebrand (CHANDRA_THE_FIREBRAND_991259205)
2x - Chandra’s Outrage (CHANDRAS_OUTRAGE_345331)
3x - Chandra’s Phoenix (CHANDRAS_PHOENIX_337848)
1x - Fireblast (FIREBLAST_888234736)
4x - Incinerate (INCINERATE_888134751)
1x - Jaya Ballard, Task Mage (JAYA_BALLARD_TASK_MAGE_627128)
2x - Keldon Marauders (KELDON_MARAUDERS_199125885)
4x - Lightning Bolt (LIGHTNING_BOLT_350222)
2x - Pyroclasm (PYROCLASM_348479)
4x - Rift Bolt (RIFT_BOLT_LEGACY)
1x - Sulfuric Vortex (SULFURIC_VORTEX_348971)
2x - Wheel of Fortune (WHEEL_OF_FORTUNE_628497)
2x - Koth of the Hammer (KOTH_OF_THE_HAMMER_991266362)

This is the complete card listing for the regular unlocks:
1x - Chandra Ablaze (CHANDRA_ABLAZE_991195402)
1x - Chandra, Pyromaster (CHANDRA_PYROMASTER_991370637)
1x - Chandra Nalaar (CHANDRA_NALAAR_991205958)

Pretty straight forward. This is how a direct deck should be played. Lots of direct damage spells, hit them hard and fast. You have very few creatures, so most of the time your direct damage spells should be against the opponent. Use pyroclasm to deal with their creatures. Against green decks, you have to make a judgment call whether to use your direct damage spells against their larger creatures or against the player.
Usually you might run out of steam near the end. Use browbeat and wheel of fortune to draw extra cards. Also use planeswalker support. Koth gives you 4/4 mountains, and later on can change your mountains to do direct damage. Chandra does direct damage as well.
Also use Jaya Ballard, Task Mage to do direct damage. Sulfuric Vortex helps against life gaining decks by preventing them gaining life.

5. Mathemagic
| Open
This is the complete card listing for the deck:
4x - Banefire (BANEFIRE_350480)
4x - Darksteel Citadel (DARKSTEEL_CITADEL_627989)
1x - Darksteel Forge (DARKSTEEL_FORGE_370734)
4x - Etched Champion (ETCHED_CHAMPION_LEGACY)
2x - Golem Artisan (GOLEM_ARTISAN_199206360)
4x - Great Furnace (GREAT_FURNACE_627808)
4x - Lodestone Golem (LODESTONE_GOLEM_199191557)
4x - Metalworker (RARI_METALWORKER_15246)
4x - Staff of Domination (STAFF_OF_DOMINATION_111050162)
4x - Voltaic Construct (VOLTAIC_CONSTRUCT_199048141)
2x - Wheel of Fortune (WHEEL_OF_FORTUNE_628497)
4x - Palladium Myr (PALLADIUM_MYR_212251)
4x - Myr Galvanizer (MYR_GALVANIZER_220364)

This is the complete card listing for the regular unlocks:
1x - Silent Arbiter (SILENT_ARBITER_199276976)
1x - Silent Arbiter (SILENT_ARBITER_199276976)
1x - Lodestone Myr (LODESTONE_MYR_205291)
1x - Lodestone Myr (LODESTONE_MYR_205291)

Nice name. Can you say infinite mana combos.
Use Metalworker + Voltaic Construct plus 2 artifacts in hand to get infinite mana. Or
Metalworker + Staff of Domination + 3 artifacts in hand to get infinite mana.
Or Palladium Myr and 2 Myr Galvanizers
What to do with infinite mana. Combine it with red for a Banefire (which can’t be counterspelled after a certain extent). Or how about pump up Lodestone golem with Voltaic Construct, or pump up any creature (particularly Etched Champion with its protection from colors) with Golem Artisan.
In the interim, use Silent Arbiter and Etched Champion for defense, and Lodestone Golem to make it harder for them to cast their spells, slowing the game down until you can get your infinite mana combos.
Tolarian academy is added in even though there are no blue cards (but the fact it can produce extra mana is useful). Alloy Myr is also used to produce extra mana.

1x - Leyline of Sanctity (LEYLINE_OF_SANCTITY_628053)
1x - Elite Vanguard (ELITE_VANGUARD_888240315)
1x - Tormod’s Crypt (TORMODS_CRYPT_888279713)
1x - Zuran Orb (ZURAN_ORB_888212628)
1x - White Knight (WHITE_KNIGHT_369521)
1x - White Knight (WHITE_KNIGHT_369521)
1x - White Knight (WHITE_KNIGHT_369521)
1x - White Knight (WHITE_KNIGHT_369521)

Back in the day of fourth edition, I remember erhnam djinn and Armageddon were one of the favourite decks. When Duels came out waaay back when we could create our own decks, I used a white weenie deck and Armageddon and regularly beat the AI.
However with Wizard’s adjusting the power curve of creatures, white weenies struggle. So when I initially created this deck and play tested it, I would win only with better skill or draws, and even then I would only win 50% of the time.
However with the Planeswalker mods I went back and rejig the deck, using mother of Runes for defense and allowing offensive creatures to pass through. I also use Elspeth to pump things up.
The strategy behind this deck is tricky, but fun. Hit them fast with your weenies, use Elspeth to pump things up. When you have four lands, and they have equivalent or more, consider Armageddon (destroy all lands). If Elspeth has enough loyalty counters, make your permanents indestructible, then wrath of god and Armageddon destroys their permanents only.
This deck also has flying creatures to allow you to get through and finish them off.

7 Into the Void
| Open
This is the complete card listing for the deck:
2x - All Is Dust (ALL_IS_DUST_338011)
2x - Composite Golem (COMPOSITE_GOLEM_135275)
4x - Crystal Quarry (CRYSTAL_QUARRY_30012)
4x - Darksteel Citadel (DARKSTEEL_CITADEL_627989)
1x - Darksteel Forge (DARKSTEEL_FORGE_370734)
2x - Door to Nothingness (DOOR_TO_NOTHINGNESS_345284)
4x - Etched Champion (ETCHED_CHAMPION_LEGACY)
1x - Eye of Ugin (EYE_OF_UGIN_349136)
2x - Halimar Depths (HALIMAR_DEPTHS_627987)
8x - Island (ISLAND_357812)
4x - Kaleidostone (KALEIDOSTONE_189272)
1x - Tolarian Academy (MM_TOLARIAN_ACADEMY_628974)
4x - Myr Galvanizer (MYR_GALVANIZER_220364)
4x - Palladium Myr (PALLADIUM_MYR_212251)
4x - Metalworker (RARI_METALWORKER_15246)
4x - Seat of the Synod (SEAT_OF_THE_SYNOD_222740)
3x - Staff of Domination (STAFF_OF_DOMINATION_111050162)
2x - Tezzeret the Seeker (TEZZERET_THE_SEEKER_991174912)
4x - Voltaic Construct (VOLTAIC_CONSTRUCT_199048141)

This is the complete card listing for the regular unlocks:
1x - Ancestral Recall (ANCESTRAL_RECALL_628488)
1x - Ancestral Recall (ANCESTRAL_RECALL_628488)

This deck usually wins with Door to Nothingness. Use Tezzeret to get the artifacts you need, including the door and ones to activate the door, that is Composite Golem, or Kaleidostone. The other card that is useful for it is Crystal Quarry.
Rather than having lots of dual or fetch lands, I have resorted again to the infinite mana combo to generate the mana to allow those cards to produce the WWGGUUBBRR mana needed to activate the Door.
Use All is Dust as a sweeper card, and especially potent since you have colorless artifacts. Eye of Ugin can be used to draw out the creatures just when you need them re : composite golem, plus it makes it cheaper to cast All is Dust.

Any comments, ways to improve the decks, please tell me.

Edit - as per the thread viewtopic.php?f=109&t=11629 Composite Golem, Crystal Quarry and Kaleidostone seem to work in activating Door to Nothingness. They do seem to run into problem when play testing if you use them for other things, so if you plan to create decks using these cards beware (until we iron out the bugs).

Edit 2 (8/sept) - added the Core enabler, hopefully it will work now.

No crashing issues, I have all of the required .wad files, but none of the decks show up in the deck manager. Steam version, if that matters.

If you have created your own decks with Riaak's deck manager the numbers may conflict, so you just have to rename them.

You also need the required DLL file to play with any mod decks.

You might need to add to your downloads your content pack enabler. I would suggest using your own content pack enabler ID. It would help a lot of the newer players that don't know how to modify wad files enjoy your decks.

Added the content pack enabler, hopefully things will work now.

I have a few decks which I am hoping to share later on, depending on if people find these decks fun. I have created another milling deck which works by a different method, so hopefully it will be fun.
