updating

when i update wads and card lists such as the theros card list do i have to delete or recreate anything that had those items in them? persay i recently redownloaded the theros and born of the gods wads to try and get the more recent versions, will this cause the game to crash because the original cards in decks that ive made arent there? because my game keeps crashing...

If you're still trying to use decks with non-existent cards then I imagine it might, but wouldn't think so. If a card is messed up and the game can't load it, the loads without the card and without crashing... Someone who hasn't been gone for months (like I have) might have more insight. I'm still getting back into the game and its idiosyncrasies.

Generally, if you update a WAD and the WAD has not removed any cards then it won't cause any crashing (unless you got a corrupted download). If decks were created using my Deck Builder then those decks will automatically use any updated cards from the updated WAD(s) because the Deck Builder only stores references. If someone manually built a deck that references cards from a WAD that got updated then it will also automatically use the updated cards.
If the updated WAD has removed one or more cards then any decks that reference the removed cards will cause the game to crash. This is true of all but the earliest game versions (early cracked versions often won't crash because they use cracked versions of the first steam executable which did not have the crashing problem).
If a deck was manually built and includes cards from another WAD in it's WAD then it depends as to what updated and how it was updated as to whether it will crash or not. Generally it won't crash, but there may be broken cards or the old buggy ones may override the updated ones. It all depends on a large number of factors in this case, but it is possible for this case to cause crashes.
An easy way to see if you have decks that reference non-existent cards is to open my Deck Builder and look at the generated error log. Any problems that the Deck Builder notices will be in the error log (this includes problems loading cards, decks referencing cards that don't exist, mismatched file names, etc...).
