Text permanent causing crashes (ipad)

Postby j6m6w6 » 25 Jul 2014, 03:23

I'm converting sumomoles current mod for ipad and I've narrowed down the crashing to the text permanent folder. It's crashing at the splash screen right before the wizards logo. Now the furthest modding ability I have is converting, so I really don't know what purpose the XML's in the text permanent folder have. The other mods I converted in the past, firemind V5, and kevs are still working for me. If anyone might have an idea what might be causing the crashing I would appreciate it! Thanks! :D

I'm not sure what is causing your crashes, but the XMLs in the TEXT_PERMANENT folder define localized strings for things like card queries (text that shows up when searching for cards or selecting targets and such), multiple choice questions and responses, types and subtypes, etc....

hmmm... i have no idea what the difference is between the XML in sumomoles files and the ones in the fireminds V5.

Edit: just tried the fireminds V10 other.WAD which has his text permanent and it loads up fine.

Both I think, I'll have to check when I get home. Maybe it's the Chinese laungage support? I noticed the others I checked didn't have that.

its the CARD_UI_TEXT0062.XML No matter how many times i kill and restart the app it crashes, if i take that XML out its starts on the first or second try. That seems to be the only file causing any issue also, i converted the art.wad and a deck to test, the replenish deck, and it works fine i can get into a game and play it out.something in that file is not friends with the ipad and i have no clue what it might be.

Looks like that did the job! It took a few restarts but it booted up with coth wads and a deck. I did remove my other conversions, fire minds v5 and kevs mod so there may have been a conflict there, I'll have to test a bit more on that. I'll convert the rest of your decks and post the finished conversion for others to test! Also going to convert the fireminds most recent to see if the causes any issues on ipad. Thanks, :)
