Collectible Card Game Headquarters

Wow man, you're a class act. Very quick and detailed response. So am I safe to use your Community WAD compilation in conjunction with the DLCs not included? If not, I'll stick to the Community WAD since you now made it clear it is the way to go to have the most cards possible.

Could you confirm to me if those following DLCs (I mean the cards, not the decks) are also included?:

Can you also confirm me if Scion Of Darkness DLC is included, and if not, again, safe to use in conjunction with your compilation? Also Gorem2k Mod v14(Data_Decks_4400_CORE.wad)?

Also, again, does the Community WAD includes TFM&G2K's Planeswalkers Pool v8g Original DLC which is DATA_DLC_PLW_v8g.zip (5.62MB) or the Updated one which is PW Protection Update.zip (25.9MB)?

And again, do I only need the plug-in Data_DLC_8192_ManualMana at this point? Or are Data_DLC_8192_Characteristics, Data_DLC_8192_ObjectDC & Data_DLC_Core_Fixes also needed? I know you clearly specify in RED only Manual Mana Functions is needed, but it's hard to tell if other plug-ins have been updated AFTER it was written. I know there's dates on posts and stuff, but just want to be sure. Would it hurt to put all plug-ins in the installation folder even if not needed? Causing conflicts.

Thanks for your input man. I just wanted to have as much cards as possible. Cause I want to play in multi-player with a friend who wants to stick to Cockatrice cause he thinks there's too much missing cards in DotP 2014, even when modded. But I like the interactivity of the game. Thee's also the question of bugs too, but hey, I can live with it, as long as there's not too much. There's got to be people who use your hard work guys, otherwise that would be a waste.

To alleviate the issues with trying to determine if a mod has been updated since it was included or not you could include the version numbers of the mods that are included then people could check versus the versions of the individual mods. Since mods aren't being updated that frequently anymore it shouldn't take that much time to manage.

Nothing bad should happen if you have his function files. If you have them, the game will ignore them unless Riiak changed them to override mine (which he'll do if he updates them, a decision we made awhile back).

I don't know if those are included, and I don't know if any given mod is safe to use or not. It depends on whether or not the creator put in files that will conflict. This shouldn't be the case in most cases. The CW should override any files conflicting with it, but this doesn't always work. They should theoretically be safe to use alongside it, but try it out, and if it starts crashing a lot, you'll know something's wrong. I'm sorry I can't be of more help here, but that's about all I know on that subject.

As for how to describe the CW, I don't know with certainty that I wouldn't be missing anything. As I mentioned, I'd never even heard of or seen Zarroc's or Persee's stuff. There could be others. It's unlikely, but possible. And updating mods doesn't happen very often. The only mods I know of that have been updated recently are the Plw Pool, thanks to fallenangle keeping it up to date, the Fate Reforged release by Tejahn, Chakan recently mentioned he submitted his work for the CW (and it's now included), and one other mod which has a few cards that only work within the deck (they change color words in an effect). All but the last is up to date in the CW. In fact, the only one that updates frequently at all is the PLW Pool, and I'm in constant contact with fallenangle, so I'll basically always know about any updates to it. So, that's not too bad. (Also, the protection update was Neo's function, and then I modified it even further as fallenangle explains in the post in which he introduces it. It's buried now, but yes, that's in the CW.)

As for version: I think that at this point, that would only be relevant for maybe yours (they haven't been updated in a long time, but if they ever are again, I'll include the version number) and the planeswalker pool (which doesn't actually have version number, but I can link to the post, at least). I find it relatively unlikely that anyone else will be updated mods outside the CW.

However, give me a day and I'll see if I can clean up the main post.

EDIT: Scion of Darkness responded recently. His stuff is included.

I didn't know Gorem2k released anything besides the planeswalkers. I have his permission to use his stuff though. I just search the forum and couldn't find the file you're talking about. If you send it to me, I'll get it included.

Can't thank you enough Xander. You're very kind. On a sidenote, card's WADs of the CW works fine right now. But when I put the CW decks in the installation folder, the game crashes on startup. And from what I've seen, A LOT of the decks make it crash. But I understand the decks are made by the community, not you. But I just felt like telling so. All the card's WADS are there, and the Mana Pool Function file, and the WAD DLL is there. So I don't really know what's the problem. I tried putting decks one at a time, some work, others make the game crash, so I'll have to test them one by one. Maybe it is because I have the PLAZA version of the game, and not the Steam version. I also got the same error log when exiting the game as the other guy in the Multiplayer Error Topic you responded to yesterday(No crash, just getting it after exiting the game). Something about CW_MANA.LOL. I was wondering, if the fact I use an unlawful version of the game may be the culprit, and I would buy the steam version, would I need to buy the complete version to have all the cards. I find the price of the base version of the game reasonable, but the complete version's price is pretty steep, at around 40-50$. In all seriousness I would prefer to give this money to you guys in donation.

The decks are my fault sort of. They'll be fixed soon.

The fact that you have a cracked versions shouldn't be the problem. I can't say for sure, though, because I have the steam version and have only ever had the cracked version a LONG time ago. However, only the base game would be needed. The game won't access the other decks, but the cards themselves are still there and can be used with the Deck Builder.

Okay guys. Decks should be fixed and uploaded. Try them and let me know.

Actually, the reason it was still happening even though I fixed it was because the error had changed VERY slightly. It was originally happening on line 530. Then it was happening on line 553. Same problem, but on tow separate lines.

Thanks a lot Xander, I'll re-download the decks and try it out. I'll give feedback once done. But it's not really a big problem for me in the first place, it's really the cards I'm interested in. Is there a way to make donations? The "problem" is it's a community thing, and I guess it would be hard to redistribute donations equally. But a centralized honor system which distribute donations to all programmers here who contributed would be a great idea. The more you contribute, the more you get a % of the cut. I guess it's in the hands of SlightyMagic administrators, and I'm not sure if it would be attracting legal problems coming from WotC or Stainless Games though. Just throwing that out there because I think you guys are doing a fantastic job. Later.

That's fine. You don't have to text them if you don't want to. I just meant they are ready now. The problem was from a change I made yesterday or the day before, but I hadn't had a chance to fix the affected decks until today.

As much as I appreciate the idea (because I really do), there are problems with that. Consider these.
1: Many modders' cards are included.
2: Some of those modder's are no longer able to be contacted to accept their share (and in the case of Neo, that would be a very large share, especially if we consider that he made some very complicated abilities like morph).
3: Some modders only contributed cards. Some contributed absolutely essential functions. I don't make too many cards, but I've dedicated a LOT of time to the CW and have singe-handedly made every single program (there are dozens) that make the community wad work. What % is a card worth vs a function vs program? If I wasn't involved, I might be able to objectively come up with some percentages, but I am. But that's irrelevant because of...
4: WotC almost certainly would have a problem with it, and the modding we do may or may not technically be legal. If not, then anyone accepting donations would be in trouble. WotC mostly ignores this. Whether they ignore it because they simply don't think it's worth their time, or whatever their reason is (maybe they've just never noticed it?), I'd prefer they keep ignoring it and donations could easily change that. (Frankly, I was slightly worried the CW itself might change that, but it doesn't seem it has.)

A donation badge (linked to a personal PayPal account) for every programmer who've earned it, by contributing a certain amount of work, instead of a centralized thing could work though. It would then be at the discretion of the donor. But yeah, the legal issues still persist. I'll be back to give feedback of the decks even if they're not my main interest, it's still fun to try some out, especially when you don't really have the time to build one, one day or another. I'll check it out next week when I got time.
