Cant get modded decks to work

Cant get modded decks to work

I new to modding so I downloaded both the community wad and the community wad decks, aswell as the DLL that was suggested under the community wad and have added them to the magic folder as instructed. However I cant see any of the decks, could any one who has made this work guide us through or screen shot there lay out? is there a specific place I'm supposed to put the wads?
Does the fact that I have the expansions change anything?

Actually, there are still a few people around. Posting anywhere in the DotP forums will guarantee I will see it (I check it pretty often). I don't know if Riiak checks all of the DotP forums, but he definitely checks this one pretty often. And a few others besides us.

As for the issue above, post list of the files in your game folder.

Hold shift and right click inside your game folder. Select Open command window here. Type "dir > filelist.txt" without the quotes. A new file named filelist.txt will be made in your game folder. Copy the contents here (in a spoiler tag) or upload the file or use pastebin or something.

what version of the game?
2012 2013 2014 2015
where did you download the game from?
torrent steam windows
what is the directory path you have the wad placed in?
user\Documents\Wizards of the Coast\Magic the Gathering\magic 2014
Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Magic 2014
etc.

and in reply to zysron, its downloaded from steam and its 2014
the directory is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Magic 2014

i think i spotted the problem... or a problem too many decks also all the content pack enablers and you need to remove the " (2)" from the dll
did i miss anything xander?

i cannot remember which... wait ok nvm the enablers but deffinatly all those decks... way too many

pick like 10-20 at a time

Too many decks can definitely crash it, but it's almost certainly the " (2)" in the name of the dll that's stopping the decks from loading at all.

hey xander the set wads and the core wad together... it doesnt cause any problems right? other than waste of space?

They can, but shouldn't in most situations. The main problems will come from some very specific functions being slightly altered to make the CW work in a more standardized way. Also, some mod, I don't know which, has a copy of Riiak's mana functions, but the function file has "legacy" in its name and screws up cards in the CW if it's loaded last. However, the CW should be loaded after any other mods not specifically set to load later. So, you should be fine, ESPECIALLY if you're using mods whose cards aren't in the CW. It's only really if you're using, say, TFM's mods or Neo's mods (sans planeswalkers) that there might be a real issue. Still, should be okay even then. No guarantees, though. It was never really designed to work /with/ other mods. It was designed to incpororate and then replace them.

Thanks for such a quick reply, i removed the (2) from the dll file, when I load the game now it crashes (so at least it does something) and i get a message about a minidump and to add it to my bug report. So is that because there's too many decks added at once or is it that there is too many decks in general? because i literally just took everything that wa sin the community wad

Like we said, too many decks will cause it to crash. Try narrowing it down to 10 or 20 you want and delete teh rest of the decks.

OMG IT WORKED Thank you both so much, way too excited to get into this. Would probably be worth noting not to try and install all the wads on the community wads page just so anyone else who does this doesn't go through this

All the DECK wads in the DECK page. All the other wads are needed.But I'm glad you got it working :)

I check pretty much all of the DotP forums, but I don't always have much time so my responses may be delayed (sometimes a day or two if a post requires more thought/time than I can manage in my short breaks).

I know later you said you got things working (using only a few decks at a time), but it should also be noted that some decks may crash the game (even if you haven't hit the deck limit) because it can't find a referenced card these errors can be found by running the Deck Builder and checking the error log.

It was GrovyleXShinyCelebi's mods (the DotP 2013 legacy mod is the offending one most people run across).
